Boosted by Government Scheme, a Model of Women Empowerment – Journey from Homemaker to Successful Dairy Entrepreneur

Raipur, January 2026 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, good governance and welfare schemes in Chhattisgarh are bringing visible positive changes in the lives of common people. Government initiatives are no longer limited to mere assistance; they are increasingly enabling people to become self-reliant and empowered. A shining example of this is Mrs. Jyotsna Patel from Vinobanagar, Raigarh, who leveraged the State Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme to transform herself from a homemaker into a successful dairy entrepreneur.

Earlier, Mrs. Jyotsna Patel, along with her husband Shri Rajaram Patel, was primarily engaged in domestic responsibilities. With limited family income, she nevertheless had the drive and determination to progress. In 2024-25, she received financial assistance of Rs. 70,000 under the State Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme, which gave her dreams a new direction. In November 2024, she purchased two high-yield cows producing around 20 liters of milk daily. From milk sales, she earned approximately Rs. 800 per day and around Rs. 24,000 per month in net income.

Encouraged by her initial success, Mrs. Jyotsna expanded her dairy business. Today, she owns 14 milch cows and 6 heifers. Currently, she produces about 150 liters of milk per day, generating a daily income of Rs. 3,000–4,000. With this economic empowerment, in July 2025, she purchased an e-bike worth Rs. 1.25 lakh, which has greatly facilitated the operations of her business.

The support and services provided by the Animal Husbandry Department—including vaccination, artificial insemination, deworming, and treatment—have further made her dairy venture profitable.

Mrs. Jyotsna Patel’s success has become an inspiration for women in the region. Her confidence, hard work, and achievements are motivating many other women to step into the dairy entrepreneurship sector.
