Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam Meets Union Agriculture Minister Shri ChauhanApproval of ₹30.42 Crore for Promotion of Maize and Pulses

Raipur, January 2026 : Chhattisgarh’s Minister for Agriculture Development and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Ramvichar Netam, today paid a courtesy visit to the Union Minister of Agriculture, Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, at his official residence in New Delhi. During the meeting, Minister Shri Netam placed key demands related to the development of pulse and oilseed crops in the state. The proposals submitted by the Government of Chhattisgarh received approval at the central level, which is expected to provide fresh impetus to the state’s agricultural sector. Describing this as a significant achievement in the interest of farmers, Minister Shri Netam said that coordinated efforts between the Centre and the State will help boost the production of maize, pulses, and oilseeds in Chhattisgarh.

On this occasion, Minister Shri Netam also discussed various proposals related to agricultural development, including the promotion of modern agricultural equipment, with Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan. The Union Minister approved an amount of ₹6 crore 32 lakh 50 thousand for the promotion of maize cultivation and ₹24 crore 10 lakh for the promotion of pulse and oilseed crops. As a result, maize crop demonstrations will be conducted over 55,000 hectares in the state, benefiting around 7,000 farmers. Similarly, under the pulses initiative, crop demonstrations of urad and moong will be carried out over 24,100 hectares, benefiting nearly 28,000 farmers across the state.

It is noteworthy that during the meeting, Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam also informed the Union Minister that a proposal amounting to ₹27 crore 68 lakh under the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana for the year 2025–26 has been submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, for approval. Minister Shri Netam requested early approval of the pending proposal.
