NEW DELHI |The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s student wing ASAP (Association of Students for Alternative Politics) organised a condolence and prayer meeting on Wednesday for the innocent students who tragically lost their lives in the Satya Niketan PG tragedy. The gathering at Talkatora Stadium was attended by AAP Delhi Unit Chief Saurabh Bharadwaj, MLAs and councillors, along with a large number of students and public.
The grief over the deaths of the young students was visible among those present, who prayed for peace for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to bear the loss. A bhajan evening was also organised as part of the tribute.
During the programme, AAP student wing Association of Students for Alternative Politics (ASAP) DUSU presidential candidate Pankaj Kumar stated, “We pay our heartfelt tributes to all those who lost their lives in this tragedy. We pray to God for the students who are injured and fighting for their lives in hospital, that they recover at the earliest and return home safely. We can very well understand what the parents who have lost their children must be going through.”
Pankaj Kumar demanded, “ASAP demands that the Central Government allot land for a hostel for students at the earliest. If the government cannot allot land for a hostel, then the Central Government must bear the entire rent of all the children currently living in PGs and flats.”
Meanwhile, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj stated that AAP’s student wing ASAP organised a condolence and prayer meeting on Wednesday for all the students who lost their lives in the PG tragedy. During the programme, those present paid their heartfelt tributes to the deceased students and prayed to God for the peace of their souls.
Saurabh Bharadwaj added, “On Sunday, a five-storey PG building collapsed in the Satya Niketan area, leaving several children trapped under the debris. So far, the deaths of 8 innocent children have come to light. This tragedy has left lakhs of students studying while living in PGs across Delhi deeply shaken.”
