Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 2026 : The Kerala unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday announced a month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan across the state from September 17 to October 17 to mark 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public service.
Claiming that nearly 80 per cent of Malayalis have benefited from one or more initiatives of the Modi government, BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the campaign would seek to take the message of service-oriented politics directly to the people.
The BJP aims to reach at least 50 lakh people across Kerala during the month-long programme, which will include a range of activities focused on welfare, development and public outreach.
BJP state general secretary S. Suresh said the reach of Central government welfare and development schemes in Kerala had been extensive. He said around 80 per cent of Malayalis had benefited from at least one government initiative, covering areas such as welfare, banking, digital payments and Covid-19 vaccination.
As part of the campaign, the BJP plans to organise programmes at nearly 20,000 booths across the state. Around 2,000 party representatives will conduct ward-level audits to identify beneficiaries of Central government schemes and assess the extent of their reach.
Special camps will also be organised to identify eligible people who have not yet received benefits under various schemes. Party workers will assist such beneficiaries in accessing the programmes and completing the required processes.
The campaign marks 25 years since Modi became Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001. According to the BJP, his tenure in Gujarat reflected an approach centred on development and on converting challenges and crises into opportunities.
The party will also highlight what it describes as India's progress in infrastructure, economic development and other sectors since Modi became Prime Minister in 2014.
As part of the outreach, beneficiaries of Central government schemes will participate in ‘Vikas Ke Liye Deepam’, under which they will light lamps at their homes as a mark of solidarity with the Prime Minister.
Several other programmes have also been planned. Drawing and speech competitions on ‘Swapna Bharat’ will be organised for school students between September 17 and October 7. An ‘Anganwadi Utsav’ will be held from September 25 to October 7, while blood donation and medical camps will take place between September 25 and October 2.
BJP help desks, which were launched a year ago, will coordinate the various activities. Seva Samarpan Month will be observed officially in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, Palakkad and Thrippunithura municipalities, besides BJP-ruled panchayats.
On October 7, ‘Vikas Jyothi Yatras’ will be organised from 30 BJP organisational district centres across Kerala. The yatras will culminate in public meetings attended by party workers and beneficiaries of Central government schemes.
Chandrasekhar said the campaign was intended to reinforce the message that public service should form the foundation of politics while sharing with people the journey of Modi's 25 years in public life.
