Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav chaired the Cabinet meeting held at the Mantralaya on Tuesday. The Cabinet approved proposals worth more than ₹42,490 crore to accelerate the state’s overall development, strengthen infrastructure and promote public welfare.
The Cabinet approved more than ₹36,006 crore for the continuation of the Centrally Sponsored Samagra Shiksha Scheme for the next five years to strengthen and expand quality school education. With the objective of improving citizen services, ₹1,166 crore was approved for the continuation of 11 schemes of the Transport Department, while ₹491 crore was approved for the continuation of eight schemes of the Horticulture Department aimed at enhancing farmers’ incomes.
In the water resources sector, more than ₹2,600 crore was approved for the Chitavad irrigation project in Ujjain, Gaund irrigation project in Singrauli and Chanderi irrigation project in Ashoknagar. These projects will create irrigation potential over more than 1.27 lakh hectares.
To strengthen the administrative machinery, approval was given for the creation of 21 new posts for establishing Mineral Branch offices in the newly formed districts of Maihar, Mauganj and Pandhurna, and 36 posts for upgraded schools in Anuppur and Shahdol.
The Cabinet also ratified the decision to provide ₹250 in additional special assistance to Ladli Behna beneficiaries on Raksha Bandhan. Another important decision was to provide MARKFED with an interest-free loan of ₹2,220.62 crore.
₹36,006.22 Crore Approved for Continuation of Samagra Shiksha Scheme
The Cabinet approved ₹36,006.22 crore for the continuation of the Centrally Sponsored Samagra Shiksha Scheme from financial year 2026-27 to 2030-31.
The scheme aims to provide quality education in the state and improve learning outcomes among students; reduce social and gender disparities in school education; ensure equity and inclusion at all levels of school education; and ensure minimum standards in educational provisions.
It also seeks to promote vocational education alongside school education, support the state in implementing the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, and strengthen and upgrade SCERT/State Institutes of Education and DIETs as nodal agencies for teacher training.
Universal access, equity and quality, promotion of vocational education along with school education, and strengthening of teacher education institutions have also been identified as key outcomes of the scheme.
The Samagra Shiksha Scheme provides for education from pre-primary to Class 12 for students from all categories in the 4–18 age group.
₹1,166.60 Crore Approved for Continuation of 11 Transport Department Schemes
Keeping in view the smooth functioning of the Transport Department, infrastructure development and expansion of citizen services, the Cabinet approved ₹1,166.60 crore for the continued operation of revenue and capital expenditure schemes costing less than ₹500 crore each, for the period from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2031.
Under the approval, the highest allocation of ₹377.41 crore has been made for the establishment and operational expenditure of flying squads and check points, while ₹361.89 crore has been provided for district establishment expenditure.
In addition, ₹120.10 crore has been approved for headquarters establishment expenditure and ₹10.39 crore for the functioning of the State Transport Appellate Tribunal.
Under digital services and infrastructure, ₹245.55 crore has been approved for the continued operation of the Smart Card Scheme. Another ₹30 crore has been sanctioned for new construction of departmental office buildings, while approximately ₹5.50 crore has been approved for the maintenance and upkeep of existing assets.
Schemes related to road safety, public welfare and women’s safety have also been continued. A grant of ₹12 crore has been approved for establishing driving training centres to develop skilled drivers.
To improve connectivity in rural areas, ₹2.50 crore has been approved for the implementation of the Rural Transport Policy. An allocation of ₹1.25 crore has also been approved for the Good Samaritan Award to encourage citizens who assist victims of road accidents. Financial provisions required under the Nirbhaya Fund for ensuring women’s safety in public road transport have also been approved.
₹491 Crore Approved for Continuation of Eight Horticulture Schemes
The Cabinet formally approved the continuation of eight major state-funded schemes of the Horticulture and Food Processing Department for the next five years, from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2031. A total financial outlay of ₹491 crore has been approved for the period.
The decision aims to increase farmers’ incomes, expand the area and improve the quality of horticultural crops, and promote food-processing units in the state.
Under the approved proposal, ₹100 crore each has been allocated for the Fruit Plantation and Spice Area Expansion schemes. In addition, ₹85 crore has been provided for the Protected Cultivation Promotion Scheme, while ₹53 crore each has been allocated for crop insurance and development of food-processing industries.
A budget of ₹50 crore has been approved for development of integrated cold-chain infrastructure, while ₹25 crore each has been allocated for farmer training and maintenance of departmental assets.
The continued implementation of these schemes will enable farmers to receive ongoing benefits from advanced farming practices, subsidies, crop protection against natural disasters and modern technologies. The concerned department has been authorised to issue guidelines and rules for their smooth implementation.
₹11.49 Crore Approved for Continuation of Chanderi Micro Irrigation Project
The Cabinet approved ₹11.49 crore for continuation of the Chanderi Micro Irrigation Project in Ashoknagar district from financial year 2026-27 to 2030-31. The project, under the Water Resources Department, aims to provide irrigation facilities to 28,000 hectares in Ashoknagar district through the construction of a micro-irrigation system.
₹749.62 Crore Approved for Continuation of Gaund Major Irrigation Project in Singrauli
The Cabinet approved ₹749.62 crore for continuation of the Gaund Major Irrigation Project in Singrauli district from financial year 2026-27 to 2030-31. The project aims to create irrigation potential over 34,500 hectares in Singrauli district through construction of a dam and a micro-irrigation system.
₹1,846.05 Crore Approved for Continuation of Chitavad Major Irrigation Project in Ujjain
The Cabinet approved ₹1,846.05 crore for continuation of the Chitavad Major Irrigation Project on the Kshipra River near Mahidpur tehsil in Ujjain district from financial year 2026-27 to 2030-31. The project aims to provide irrigation facilities to 65,000 hectares through construction of an irrigation dam and utilisation of the stored water.
21 New Posts Approved for Mineral Branch Offices in Maihar, Mauganj and Pandhurna
The Cabinet approved 21 posts for the establishment of Mineral Branch offices in the newly formed districts of Maihar, Mauganj and Pandhurna to meet the requirement for mineral officers and staff. Seven new posts have been approved for each district. These include one post each of Mineral Officer, Assistant Grade-II, Assistant Grade-III, Assistant Cartographer, Surveyor, Constable and Peon in each district.
36 Regular Posts Approved for Four Upgraded High Schools in Anuppur and Shahdol
The Cabinet approved 36 regular posts for four schools upgraded from middle schools to high schools and currently operational in Anuppur and Shahdol districts—Kelhauri, Badikhhar and Bhalumada in Anuppur district, and Navalpur in Shahdol district. The approved posts include four High School Principals, 24 Secondary Teachers, four Primary Teachers and four Assistant Grade-III posts.
Cabinet Ratifies ₹250 Additional Special Assistance to Ladli Behna Beneficiaries
The Cabinet ratified the decision to provide ₹250 as additional special financial assistance to beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Ladli Behna Yojana 2023 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, in addition to the financial assistance for August 2026. The Cabinet ratified the order issued by the Chief Minister on August 20, 2026, and the subsequent order issued by the department on August 24, 2026, implementing the decision.
₹2,220.62 Crore Interest-Free Loan Approved for MARKFED
The Cabinet decided to provide an interest-free loan of ₹2,220.62 crore to the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing Federation (MARKFED) to ensure repayment of the outstanding foodgrain credit-limit loan for Rabi Marketing Year 2024-25 by September 30, 2026. The interest-free loan will be provided by the Finance Department, keeping in view the state’s cash liquidity position and fiscal deficit limits. The other terms and conditions of the loan will be finalised with the consent of the Finance Department, taking into account the financial position of MARKFED.

The Cabinet was apprised of the decisions taken at the 64th meeting of the Empowered Committee of the Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority, held on May 26, 2026.
