Ensure PM SVANidhi Scheme Benefits Reach Every Needy Street Vendor; Banks Must Dispose of Pending Applications Promptly and Within Timelines: Chief Secretary
Jaipur, January 2026 : With the objective of ensuring the effective and successful implementation of the Prime Minister’s SVANidhi Scheme in the state, a meeting of the State-Level Bankers’ Committee was held on Tuesday at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary stated that the Prime Minister’s SVANidhi Scheme is an ambitious initiative of the Central Government aimed at promoting self-employment by providing working capital loans to street vendors at affordable rates. He directed that all banks must ensure the prompt and time-bound disposal of pending applications so that eligible beneficiaries can receive the benefits of the scheme without delay.
The Chief Secretary reviewed the progress made by various banks under the scheme and issued necessary guidelines. He emphasized that extensive publicity is essential to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach every needy individual. Keeping the target group in mind, the scheme should be effectively extended not only to cities but also to towns and rural areas. In this regard, he also directed that people be connected to the scheme through rural outreach camps.
He further instructed all banks to ensure timely achievement of their assigned targets. The Chief Secretary also asked officials to compile and share success stories of beneficiaries who have gained from the scheme, so that other needy individuals may be encouraged to come forward. Emphasizing the effective implementation of field visits and inspection reports, he issued necessary directions to the concerned officers.
The meeting was attended by Secretary, Autonomous Governance Department, Shri Ravi Jain; Secretary, Planning Department, Dr. Ravi Kumar Surpur; senior departmental officials; and representatives of various government and private sector banks.
