T20 World Cup 2026 Set to Ignite Global Cricket Fever From February 7
New Delhi, Feb 2026 : Cricket fans across the globe are set for an action-packed month as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 gets underway on February 7, with the final scheduled for March 8. Organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the marquee tournament promises high-octane cricket, intense rivalries and unforgettable moments as 20 teams battle it out for the sport’s most coveted T20 prize.
This edition of the World Cup will feature a total of 55 matches, bringing together established cricketing powerhouses and emerging nations on a single stage. With World Cup fever already gripping millions of fans worldwide, anticipation is building around which team will rise to the occasion and lift the trophy at the end of a fiercely contested tournament.
India enter the competition as the defending champions and will be under the spotlight throughout the event. The Men in Blue will be aiming to create history by becoming the first team to win the Men’s T20 World Cup title three times, while also successfully defending their crown. Expectations will be high from the Indian side, especially with the tournament being played largely in familiar subcontinental conditions.
The 20 participating teams have been divided into four groups of five. Each team will play the others in their group once, with the top two sides from each group advancing to the Super Eights. From there, teams will be placed into new groups based on pre-determined seedings, making every group-stage match crucial in the race to qualify for the knockout rounds.
One of the major talking points surrounding the tournament is the arrangement of venues for the knockout stages, particularly involving India and Pakistan. If Pakistan qualify for the semi-finals, Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium will replace Kolkata as the host of Semi-Final 1. In the event that Pakistan reach the final, the summit clash will also be held in Colombo. However, if Pakistan do not make it to the final, the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the title decider.
Special arrangements have also been made for potential India–Pakistan encounters. If the two arch-rivals meet in the semi-finals, that blockbuster clash will take place in Colombo. Meanwhile, Mumbai is set to host Semi-Final 2 involving India if they face any team other than Pakistan, ensuring clarity in scheduling for high-profile fixtures.
India will begin their World Cup campaign on the opening day, February 7, with a group-stage match against the USA at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The match will mark the start of India’s title defence and is expected to draw massive attention from fans both at the venue and across broadcast platforms.
The four groups for the T20 World Cup 2026 are well balanced, featuring a mix of strong contenders and competitive underdogs.

| India | Australia | England | South Africa |
| Pakistan | Sri Lanka | West Indies | New Zealand |
| USA | Zimbabwe | Bangladesh | Afghanistan |

A total of eight venues have been selected to host matches during the tournament. These include the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Eden Gardens in Kolkata, R. Premadasa Stadium and Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Ground in Colombo, and the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. The diverse set of venues is expected to offer varied playing conditions, adding another layer of intrigue to the competition.
Fans in India can catch all the live action on Star Sports channels, which will provide television coverage of the tournament. Live streaming will be available on the JioHotstar website and mobile app, catering to millions of viewers. Every match will be available in five languages—English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada—with additional regional feeds in Bengali, Bhojpuri and Haryanvi.
Coverage in Marathi and Indian Sign Language will be available for all Team India matches, the semi-finals and the final. For mobile-first audiences, a vertical live feed in English and Hindi will once again be offered, along with innovative features such as a 360-degree viewing option and a multi-cam experience, ensuring fans can enjoy the World Cup like never before.
