Complete Farm-to-Market Value Chain Being Developed to Benefit Farmers : CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that farmers are the backbone of the state’s economy, and it is their tireless hard work that keeps our markets vibrant. The year 2026 is being observed as ‘Krishak Kalyan Varsh’ and will mark a milestone in the history of Madhya Pradesh in safeguarding farmers’ interests and ensuring their holistic development. He stated that this year will integrate the entire value chain, ‘From farm to factory and from orchard to market’, into a unified framework. The government will take all necessary steps to accelerate agricultural growth and enhance farmer prosperity, including promoting employment-oriented agro-processing industries, encouraging value addition of agricultural produce, producing improved seed varieties and expanding animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav addressed the Krishi Manthan and Agricultural Technology Fair 2026 at the agricultural university campus in Gwalior via video conferencing from the Chief Minister’s Residence on Monday.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, referring to the National River Linking Project works underway in the state, said that irrigation facilities are being expanded rapidly. The government is making every effort to increase the production of medicinal and spice crops. An Agricultural Produce Export Policy will soon be introduced, and research activities in agriculture will also be intensified. He affirmed that the government will leave no stone unturned in making farming, horticulture, and floriculture profitable ventures.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav expressed confidence that the deliberations of Krishi Manthan would yield valuable outcomes that would help the government take effective and impactful steps for farmers’ welfare. The program is being organised jointly by Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi and the Agriculture Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. Held under the ’Samriddh Kisan – Samriddh Pradesh,’ Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the event would assist farmers in adopting necessary reforms and improvements in agriculture. The government is focusing on value-chain development, processing, technology adoption and promoting rural youth entrepreneurship in modern agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries to generate large-scale employment.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasised that technological innovation, diversification, and policy support will not only enhance productivity but also create market-oriented and profitable systems for farmers in the marketing and processing sectors. The state is also moving forward with a new approach in horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries and the cooperative sector.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that agriculture today faces increasing risks due to climate change. The brainstorming sessions at ‘Krishi Manthan’ will pave the way for the development of new technologies through deliberations by senior scientists from various agricultural institutions across the country.
