Beginning of an Education Revolution in Goa: Kejriwal Inaugurates E-Library, Hands Digital Power to Students

“Good education is the real nation-building,” Kejriwal reiterates at e-library launch

Goa, February 2026 : A new ray of hope emerged in Goa’s education sector today as Arvind Kejriwal, National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party and former Delhi Chief Minister, inaugurated an e-library for students at the Our Lady of Patrocinio Community Centre in Benaulim. The initiative has been launched by MLA Captain Venzy Viegas with the aim of ensuring access to modern and quality education for every student in Goa.

The e-library offers access to over 10,000 e-books and includes specially designed videos, simulations, and practice modules for students across all classes. It also provides test preparation facilities for JEE, NEET, CLAT, and more than 40 other competitive examinations. Most importantly, the entire facility is completely free of cost, ensuring that children from economically weaker families can access the same educational resources as students from elite private schools.

The current state of education in Goa raises several concerns. The number of government schools in the state has declined from 906 to 789. Out of nearly 1,487 schools, as many as 238 are being run by a single teacher who handles all responsibilities. The shortage of resources and teaching staff is clearly visible at the grassroots level. In such a scenario, initiatives like the e-library have emerged as a major relief for students.

The Aam Aadmi Party’s education model was first implemented in Delhi and later strengthened in Punjab. In Punjab today, nearly 90 percent of government schools are equipped with smart classrooms. The state has retained a top position in the National Achievement Survey. The government sent 234 principals and education administrators for training in Singapore, 216 primary teachers to the University of Turku in Finland, and 199 headmasters to IIM Ahmedabad. Additionally, 1,908 campus managers and 1,316 security guards were appointed in government schools, making school environments safer and better managed.

The core objective of the Aam Aadmi Party’s education policy is clear: to bring government schools on par with private institutions. The party believes that children from poor and middle-class families deserve high-quality education so they can secure better employment opportunities in the future. Education, it maintains, is not merely about degrees but a powerful tool to transform lives.

Although the Aam Aadmi Party is not in power in Goa, its representatives are actively working in the field of education. The e-library stands as an example that meaningful change can be initiated even without being in government, provided there is strong political will.

Enthusiasm among students and parents was clearly visible at the inauguration ceremony. Many believe that when education is prioritised, both society and the state grow stronger. This initiative goes beyond books and digital resources—it symbolises a mindset that places education above politics and recognises it as the most powerful instrument of development.

The e-library initiative launched on Goan soil carries a strong message: quality education is the right of every child, and when policies are framed in the right direction, government-run institutions too can become centres of excellence.
