Aizawl, February 2026: Minister for Social Welfare, Tribal Affairs, Women & Child Development, Lalrinpuii, today stated that the government accords high priority to senior citizens and recognises their importance to society and the community. She said that pensions for retired government employees have been substantially enhanced—those who earlier received ₹300 are now receiving ₹1,200, while pensions of ₹600 have been increased to ₹1,500.

The Minister was addressing the Mizoram Upa Pawl Aizawl South II Area Conference held at ITI YMA. The conference was chaired by Pu Lalthangliana Varte, President, and Pu Nghaklianmawia, President, MUP General Headquarters, also addressed the gathering. Several developmental issues were discussed during the conference.
