Stalin Files Nomination from Kolathur, Eyes Fourth Consecutive Victory

Chennai, March 2026 : With the nomination process for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections gathering momentum, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Monday formally filed his nomination from the Kolathur constituency, seeking a fourth consecutive term from the seat.

The Election Commission has commenced the filing of nominations across all 234 constituencies in the state, marking a crucial stage ahead of the single-phase polling scheduled for April 23. Returning Officers’ offices have been established in each constituency, supported by tight security arrangements to ensure a smooth and orderly process.

Amid this backdrop, Stalin arrived at the designated election office on Paper Mills Road in Kolathur and submitted his nomination papers to Returning Officer S. Shanthi. He was accompanied by senior leaders, including Minister Sekhar Babu, highlighting the importance of the moment for the ruling party.

The event drew considerable public attention, with a large number of DMK cadres and supporters gathering near the venue to express their solidarity. The atmosphere reflected strong enthusiasm within party ranks as the Chief Minister officially entered the electoral fray.

Addressing the media after filing his nomination, Stalin exuded confidence about the prospects of the DMK-led alliance. He asserted that regardless of the intensity of the contest, the outcome would decisively favour his alliance. Emphasising the government’s track record, he said the people of Tamil Nadu would once again endorse their governance model and development agenda.

Following the nomination process, Stalin embarked on a roadshow in an open jeep across key areas of the constituency. The roadshow turned into a significant show of strength, with supporters lining the streets, waving party flags and greeting him enthusiastically. The massive turnout underscored the party’s confidence as it heads into the election campaign.

In a move aimed at reinforcing his development narrative, Stalin also released a booklet detailing the achievements and welfare initiatives implemented in Kolathur during the DMK’s tenure. The document highlights infrastructure development, public welfare schemes, and local improvements, positioning them as key pillars of the party’s campaign.

Reiterating his optimism, Stalin expressed confidence that the DMK alliance is poised to secure more than 200 seats in the upcoming elections. His remarks signal an aggressive push by the party not only to retain power but also to expand its mandate.

As the election process unfolds, political activity across Tamil Nadu is expected to intensify, with major parties stepping up their campaigns to attract voters in what promises to be a closely watched electoral battle.
