Urban Administration and Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya said that public participation plays an important role in the success of government schemes and programmes. He emphasized for enhancing public participation at every level of the society. Minister Shri Vijayvargiya was addressing the programme on ‘Urban Good Governance – Human Rights at RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration, Bhopal today. A souvenir was released by the guests on this occasion.
Urban Development Minister Shri Vijayvargiya said that adequate funds are being received from the Central Government for development works in urban areas. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, work is being done rapidly on ambitious programme like Smart City for the development of cities. Referring to Indore city, he said that in the Prime Minister’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, 12 lakh saplings were planted in just 12 hours in a day with maximum public participation. Today, the people of the city are coming forward to take care of these plants.Culture is important in a cleanliness programme
Discussing the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, Minister Shri Vijayvargiya said that if the values of cleanliness are inculcated in children from the beginning, it will bring better results in Indore. Indore city has given special recognition to Madhya Pradesh across the country in terms of cleanliness. Now Indore is being made a green city along with a clean city. He said that it is our collective responsibility to consider the interests of Safai Mitras and give them full respect. Minister Shri Vijayvargiya, in his capacity as public representative of the Municipal Corporation, gave information about the works of converting kutcha toilets into pucca toilets.
Chairman of the Human Rights Commission, Shri Manohar Mamtani gave information about the activities of the Commission. He said that the innovative ‘Aayog Aapke Dwar’ programme has been started to increase the reach of the Commission. The Commission has organized its programmes in 35 district headquarters. Chairman Shri Mamtani said that the Commission intends to ensure that every citizen is treated equally in society. Commission member Shri Rajiv Kumar Tandon also addressed the programme. Director General of the Noronha Academy Shri J.N. Kansotiya and Principal Secretary Law Shri N.P. Singh was also present.
In the programme, information about the schemes of the Urban Development and Housing Department besides a presentation of Municipal Corporation Bhopal, Town and Country Planning Department, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis was also given.
