Over 10,000 cow herders set to benefit from increased income in the year 2024-25
Lucknow : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched the second phase of the Nand Baba Milk Mission, aimed at increasing the income of cattle herders, promoting self-reliance, and encouraging a focus on indigenous cow breeds.
As part of this initiative, the government plans to invest Rs 74.21 crore during the 2024-25 financial year to implement various schemes. Over 10,000 cattle rearers across the state are expected to benefit, significantly boosting their earnings.
The Uttar Pradesh government launched the Nand Baba Milk Mission last year to boost the income of milk producers and increase interest in indigenous cow breeds. CM Yogi allocated a fund of Rs 1,000 crore for this five-year mission. In line with this, he has now given the green light to the second phase of the mission.
This step by CM Yogi will benefit 2,566 beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Swadeshi Gau Samvardhan Yojana in the current financial year. A budget of Rs 2,052.40 lakh has been allocated for this initiative.
Similarly, 7,028 people will benefit from the Chief Minister’s Progressive Animal Husbandry Promotion Scheme, for which Rs 790 lakh will be spent. Under the Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, 90 beneficiaries will be provided support, with an allocation of Rs 1,015 lakh for the scheme.
Additionally, a target has been set to establish 330 new dairy cooperative societies, with Rs 722.70 lakh earmarked for this purpose. To improve animal health and milk quality, 621 testing kits will be distributed to cattle rearers, with Rs 25 lakh allocated for this.
Furthermore, to enhance the capacity of dairy stakeholders in the state, 1,447 dairy farmers will receive training, for which Rs 64.30 lakh will be spent.
Under the mission, Rs 35 lakh has been allocated for the study and Training Needs Assessment (TNA) of silage/ hay/ TMR making. Under the ABIP-IBF ETT scheme, which operates as part of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, 200 people will benefit, with Rs 25 lakh allocated for the program.
Additionally, Rs 60 lakh will be spent on developing the Nand Baba Milk Mission portal. The Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana (new scheme) will benefit 294 people, with a budget allocation of Rs 1,730.08 lakh.
Furthermore, Rs 237.60 lakh has been allocated for the operation of the State Program Management Unit (SPMU) and Rs 214 lakh for the operation of District Program Management Units (DPMU) in 18 districts.
Additionally, Rs 450 lakh will be spent on constructing a laboratory for the production of sex-sorted semen for bovine animals at the Ultra Frozen Semen Production Center, Rehmankheda Lucknow.
