Children’s Welfare is Paramount, Pre-Primary Education in Mother Tongue is Essential – Secretary to Government, School Education

Interaction with Representatives of Teachers’ Unions and Staff Unions on National Education Policy 2020

Jaipur : A comprehensive discussion on the direction and implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 took place on Monday at the Shiksha Sankul premises of the Rajasthan School Shiksha Parishad. The meeting, chaired by Shri Krishna Kunal, Secretary to the Government, School Education, involved representatives from teachers’ unions and staff unions. During the discussion, Shri Kunal emphasized that pre-primary education in the mother tongue is crucial for the holistic development of children, noting that the welfare of children in education is of utmost importance.

Importance of Pre-Primary Education and Initiatives for Improvement

Shri Kunal highlighted that pre-primary education in a child’s mother tongue should be made mandatory to support the intellectual, health, and skill development of children aged three to eight years. To aid this, a simple dictionary is being developed to help children read in the local language. He also stressed the need to strengthen pre-primary education and improve government schools to reduce the dropout rate.

Simplification of the Shala Darpan Portal

The Secretary noted that the Shala Darpan portal should be simplified to improve attendance monitoring and evaluation in government schools.

Key Agreements and Suggestions from the Meeting

The meeting featured extensive discussions on various topics, including online teacher training, regular inspections, a transparent transfer policy, and the success rating of schools. The Education Secretary assured the implementation of these reforms and welcomed other suggestions for further improvement.

The meeting was attended by Director of Secondary Education Shri Ashish Modi, Director of Elementary Education Shri Sitaram Jat, as well as representatives from teachers’ and staff unions, and other officials from the Ministry.
