Message of Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Governor of Mizoram on the Occasion of Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025
My dear people of Mizoram,
CHIBAI
It is with immense pleasure that I convey my greetings to all of you on this joyous occasion of Christmas and the upcoming New Year. It is heartwarming to witness Mizoram celebrating Christmas in unison once again.
Mizoram is renowned for its vibrant Christmas celebrations, which uniquely blend religious devotion with traditional fervor. The tradition of community bonding during Christmas is noteworthy, and the Christmas songs sung in the local languages add a cultural touch to the festivities. The practice of exchanging gifts and greetings reflects the Christmas spirit of generosity, and it is beautiful to see communities reaching out to the less fortunate.
Recently, Aizawl city has been declared to have the cleanest air among India’s cities. This achievement can be attributed to our collective efforts toward a sustainable lifestyle and the proactive measures taken by the government. These factors have made us a role model for other cities striving to achieve similar environmental standards. To maintain this, I urge everyone, during this festive season, to make efforts for peaceful and pollution-free celebrations.
Our track record in maintaining law and order during this festive time is a source of pride, and we should strive to repeat this success this year.
I am aware that many will be spending this holiday season away from their loved ones. I express my admiration for those in service to others—whether as part of the armed forces, healthcare workers, or anyone in a profession that calls for sacrifice. They embody the true spirit of Christmas by putting others before themselves.
As India, under the leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, strives to become a Viksit Bharat by 2047, Mizoram plays a unique and significant role in this aspiration. Our state’s integration into India’s developmental framework is essential for realizing this vision of a developed country. I encourage everyone to actively participate in national policies and programs, ensuring that our country’s potential is harnessed effectively for the collective progress of the nation.
May the coming year bring peace, progress, and prosperity to all the people of Mizoram.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
