Approval Granted to Six Vehicle Scrapping Centers in the State
Mumbai – The Central Government’s Vehicle Scrapping Policy is being implemented in the state, under which a total of six registered vehicle scrapping centers have been approved for the disposal of old and unfit vehicles.
Vehicle owners wishing to scrap their old and unserviceable vehicles must do so through government-approved, registered vehicle scrapping centers to ensure an environmentally friendly disposal process. Additionally, owners who scrap their vehicles at these registered centers will be eligible for a 10% concession on total taxes when purchasing a new vehicle.
The Motor Vehicle (Scrappage and Registration) Rules, 2021, introduced by the Central Government, aim to reduce vehicle pollution, enhance road safety, improve fuel efficiency, lower vehicle maintenance costs, and promote the replacement of old vehicles with new ones, thereby contributing to economic growth.
