Increased Funding for Sangli District’s Development – Deputy CM Ajit Pawar

Pune Divisional Commissioner’s Office Holds Meeting on District Annual Plan

Sangli – Efforts will be made to allocate additional funds from the District Annual Plan for the development of Sangli district, ensuring proper utilization of resources, said Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Finance and Planning, Ajit Pawar, today.

He was speaking at a state-level meeting held in Pune to finalize the draft plan for the District Annual Plan (General) for 2025-26 for the districts under the Pune Revenue Division. The meeting, held at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office in Pune, was attended by Higher and Technical Education, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, and Guardian Minister of Sangli, Chandrakant Patil, along with MP Vishal Patil, MLAs Sadabhau Khot, Idris Nayakwadi, Sudhir Gadgil, Dr. Vishwajit Kadam, Suhas Babar, Rohit R.R. Patil, Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning Department Rajgopal Deora, Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar, District Collector Dr. Raja Dayanidhi, District Council CEO Trupti Dhodmise, Municipal Commissioner Shubham Gupta, District Planning Officer Ashok Patil, and other officials. The Guardian Secretary of the district, Vinita Ved Singhal, attended the meeting virtually.

For the 2025-26 District Annual Plan (General), the Planning Department had allocated a maximum budget of ₹430.97 crore for Sangli district. However, based on local needs, implementing agencies requested an additional ₹218 crore, which was discussed in detail during the meeting.

Although the District Annual Plan has budgetary constraints, Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil requested additional funding for the district’s development. In response, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar assured that increased funding would be provided.

Focus on Timely Fund Utilization and Key Development Initiatives

Deputy CM Pawar emphasized that the allocated funds should be utilized within the stipulated time frame. He also announced government support for the Model School Initiative in Sangli district, urging efforts to encourage public participation and fundraising. He suggested massive tree plantation drives in Model Schools and instructed officials to integrate Central and State government schemes for effective implementation.

Additionally, he directed administrative heads to use solar energy for government buildings, municipal streetlights, and water supply projects to reduce electricity dependency.

Preservation of Protected Monuments and Infrastructure Development

Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil instructed officials to compile a list of protected monuments in the district and submit proposals to the government for their conservation. Public representatives at the meeting urged the District Planning Committee to secure additional funds for Sangli’s development projects.

District Collector Dr. Raja Dayanidhi presented a report highlighting key projects completed in the past three years under both regular and innovative schemes. Special recognition was given to efforts in bridge construction and strengthening the public healthcare system through District Planning Committee funds.
