Kolkata’s first NRI Multi-Speciality Medical Facility Ruby Hospital decides to expand 500 beds by 2025.
City’s first NRI multi-speciality medical facility- Ruby General Hospital on Friday marked its 30th foundation year and decided to expand its bed capacity to 500 by 2025, founder chairman Dr. Kamal K Dutta said.
Former Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mr. Jyoti Basu had inaugurated the hospital on this day in 1995 as the maiden NRI multi-speciality medical facility in eastern India and later Nobel laureate Mother Teresa unveiled the cardiac surgery unit and Mother Teresa ward on October 27 in the same year.
Chaiman Kamal K. Dutta explained the future expansion plan saying they would set up altogether 500 beds capacity and a specialised cancer centre in the premises on the EM By-pass by end of this year.
He said for the past 10 years the Ruby Cancer Centre has been serving the people of Eastern India.
Sister Michael from Missionaries of Charity and Vivek Maharaj from Adyapeath, Dakshineswar along with Ms. Ruby Dutta on Thursday inaugurated the second state of the art radiotherapy machine, Varian True-Beam. linear accelerator machine, version 3.0 is the most user friendly and has an advanced mapping system of the cancer tumour along with an eclipse version 18 planning system for exact radiation treatment for the tumour.
Mr. Dutta stated that from June they will launch the first Digital PET Scan, which will reduce the time of PET CT from 30 minutes to 05 minutes only with the patient receiving only one- third of the dose of radiation. It will also give enhanced picture clarity. The installation of the PET CT is already underway.
These two machines (Varian True-Beam and Digital PET CT) will transform Ruby Cancer Centre into the foremost cancer care facility in Eastern India.
A free mental wellness clinic is being launched to mark its 30 years of services and free psychological consultation will be available to all segments and age groups. Ruby Hospital also announced that some 850 destitute and orphan children of Adyapeath Ashram will be under its care in terms of annual health check-up and all medical and surgical emergencies requiring hospitalisation. Mr. Dutta said they have decided to carry out 30,000 preventive examinations to detect diabetes and hypertension with introduction of the ‘Be Healthy’ kiosk in the outpatient department.
