Pakistan’s Massive Drone Attack Thwarted by Indian Forces: All 300-400 Drones Neutralised

New Delhi – In a major security development, Pakistan launched between 300 to 400 Turkish-made drones at 36 locations along India’s western border on the night of May 8–9. Indian armed forces successfully neutralised all the drones, with officials confirming that not a single drone achieved its intended military target within India.

Defence officials revealed that one wave of drones even struck four Pakistani air defence sites by mistake, with one drone reportedly destroying a radar installation on their own side.

Briefing the media, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh stated that the drone attack was part of multiple airspace violations by Pakistan, with the clear aim of targeting India’s military infrastructure. The attack was also accompanied by heavy artillery shelling along the Line of Control.

“Drone intrusions were attempted at 36 locations from Leh to Sir Creek, with roughly 300 to 400 UAVs deployed. Indian forces brought down many of these drones using both kinetic and non-kinetic methods,” said the officials. “The likely intent behind this massive aerial intrusion was to test our anti-drone systems and gather intelligence.”

A forensic investigation is currently underway on the drone debris, and initial reports indicate that the drones were Asisguard Songar models, manufactured in Turkey. Officials noted Turkey’s close ties with Pakistan and its consistent criticism of Operation Sindoor, India’s counter-terror offensive along the western front.

Later that night, Pakistan also deployed an armed UAV to target the Bathinda military station, which was intercepted and destroyed before it could cause any damage.

India responded firmly. Armed drones were launched at four Pakistani air defence sites, with at least one drone successfully destroying an anti-drone radar.

Pakistani forces also opened artillery fire at several points along the Line of Control, including Tangdhar, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, Rajouri, Akhnoor, and Dhaulapur in Jammu & Kashmir. This resulted in injuries to Indian soldiers, though the Indian Army responded with precision, inflicting significant losses on the Pakistani side.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri condemned the attacks, describing them as “provocative and escalatory,” aimed at harming Indian military and civilian infrastructure. He added, “India responded appropriately and responsibly.”

Responding to Pakistan’s denial of involvement, Misri said, “This denial echoes the same dishonesty seen during the Kargil conflict. Their duplicity is well known, and they continue to plunge to new depths in dishonour.”
