US Consulate Delegation Visits Maharashtra State Emergency Operations Centre

Mumbai : A delegation from the United States Consulate, led by Consul General Mike Hankey, visited the Maharashtra State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) to understand its operations. The delegation was briefed on the centre’s functioning through a presentation by Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Relief, Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management, Sonia Sethi.

Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, SEOC Director Satishkumar Khadke, and Under Secretaries Sanjeev Rane and Ratansingh Pardeshi were also present during the visit.

The delegation was informed about the centre’s effective emergency response capabilities and its preparedness strategies. The presentation highlighted the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assess disaster vulnerability across the state and enable pre-emptive planning.

The US delegation expressed appreciation for the centre’s operational efficiency and innovative approaches.
