CM M. K. Stalin, launches distribution of new textbooks, uniforms, notebooks, and other educational materials for the academic year 2025–26 to students.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru M. K. Stalin inaugurated the distribution of new textbooks, uniforms, notebooks, and other educational materials for students studying in government and government-aided schools for the academic year 2025–26, at a special event held at the Government Model Girls Higher Secondary School, Saidapet, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Chennai.

To ensure the welfare of students studying in government schools, the Tamil Nadu Government has been implementing a range of initiatives under the leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, such as the mid-day meal scheme, the Illam Thedi Kalvi (education at your doorstep), Nam Palli Nam Perumai (Our School, Our Pride), Ennum Ezhuthum (Literacy & Numeracy Mission), Namma School Foundation, school infrastructure redevelopment, provision of classrooms, drinking water facilities, toilets, smart classrooms, hi-tech computer labs, formation of model schools, and recruitment to fill vacant teacher posts.

As part of these initiatives, the Tamil Nadu Government annually provides free textbooks, uniforms, notebooks, school bags, footwear, shoes, socks, color pencils, crayons, geometry boxes, ankle boots, geographical charts, and various other educational kits to students studying in government and government-aided schools.

For the 2025–26 academic year, arrangements have been made to distribute around:

  • 4.30 crore textbooks worth ₹311 crore,
  • 1.3 crore sets of uniforms worth ₹457 crore,
  • 9.6 crore notebooks worth ₹162 crore, and
  • Educational materials worth ₹211 crore.

At today’s event at the Government Model Girls Higher Secondary School in Saidapet, Chennai, the Hon’ble Chief Minister distributed textbooks, uniforms, and various educational materials to students and interacted with them. He also observed classroom sessions and interacted with students and teachers.

Following this event, similar distribution ceremonies are being held across other districts of Tamil Nadu with the participation of Ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, local body representatives, and government officials.
