Multi-Purpose Vehicles for Revenue Divisional Headquarters: Announces Deputy CM Ajit PawarFirst-Ever Revenue Lok Adalat Launched in Maharashtra

Pune – Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar announced that multi-purpose modern vehicles will be provided to the Revenue Department at the divisional headquarters of Pune, Nashik, Amravati, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Konkan this year, following an earlier decision to equip Nagpur’s Revenue Department with such vehicles.

He made this announcement during the inauguration of Maharashtra’s first-ever Revenue Lok Adalat held in Pune district. The event, organized at the District Collector’s Office, was attended by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MLAs Bhimrao Tapkir and Bapusaheb Pathare, Divisional Commissioner in-charge Kavita Dwivedi, District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Additional Collector Suhas Mapari, former Minister of State Sanjay alias Bala Bhegde, along with advocates, parties to the cases, and officials across the district via video conferencing.

Deputy CM Pawar emphasized the need to provide proper infrastructure to officials in order to expect efficient performance. He said vehicles will be allocated in phases—starting with the divisional commissioners and gradually extended to other districts.

He noted that around 11,000 revenue-related cases will be resolved amicably during today’s Revenue Lok Adalat, reducing the burden on the revenue department and judiciary. This will save time, money, and effort for both the public and the administration. Settlements through mutual consent will reduce village disputes and heal community rifts, fostering peace and harmony. He also urged that the remaining 20,000 cases be resolved through similar adalats.

He called for stringent action under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against individuals who operate with criminal intent, suggesting necessary amendments to the law to enable this.

Pawar added that departments contributing higher revenue to the state treasury will be incentivized with proportional rewards. He further revealed that a state-of-the-art training centre, modeled after Mussoorie’s academy, is being developed for state officials at Yashada in Pune on a 120-acre campus—an initiative unmatched by any other Indian state.

Revenue Lok Adalat Initiative to be Expanded Statewide – Revenue Minister Bawankule

Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced that the Revenue Lok Adalat initiative launched in Pune will be implemented across Maharashtra to expedite the resolution of revenue disputes and deliver justice to the common man.

During the Revenue Conference in Pune, the Chief Minister had assigned key responsibilities to the six divisional commissioners. Accordingly, Pune district pioneered the initiative. With 3 to 3.5 lakh pending revenue cases from Nayab Tehsildar to the Ministry level, artificial intelligence and collaboration with parties and advocates will be used to expedite resolution.

Calling the Revenue Department the “face of the state,” Bawankule said that this initiative will create a people-friendly judicial system, reduce case backlogs, save time and money, and promote transparency. The government is working to resolve decades-old issues under the 100-Day Program, and the Pune model will be used to draft key government resolutions, which are expected to increase state revenue by ₹20,000 crore.

Pune’s circular on the e-mutation system has been widely appreciated and will serve as the model for a statewide government resolution. A new sand policy has also been launched under which M-sand (manufactured sand) from crushed stone will be used for construction. Crushers will be established on government and private land, with online demand-based monitoring through Mahakhanij to curb riverbed sand-related malpractices.

Bawankule suggested allocating annual district plan funds for Revenue Lok Adalats, similar to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maharajsw campaign. He reiterated that the provision of modern multipurpose vehicles to the Revenue Department will significantly speed up their work.

District Collector Jitendra Dudi explained the rationale behind organizing the Revenue Lok Adalat. Acting on the Chief Minister’s directives to address pending cases, Pune district took the lead. Of the 31,000 pending revenue cases across levels—Circle Officer, Tehsildar, Sub-Divisional Officer, Additional Collector—11,589 cases were shortlisted for this adalat. The goal is to reduce the total case load to 10,000 through quarterly Lok Adalats.

Dudi also shared updates on various ongoing district-level initiatives such as the EQJ Court, e-rights system, e-mutation registration, access road opening drives, and the innovative Sevadoot outreach program. He noted that integrating mining and construction permits into a unified system has already resulted in ₹150 crore revenue growth.

At the event, symbolic judgment copies were distributed to parties whose cases were resolved during the adalat. Advocates and claimants also expressed their thoughts. Additional Collector Suhas Mapari concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
