Union Ministers Bhupender Yadav and Smriti Irani Inaugurate Girls’ Summer Camp under Alwar MP Sports Festival
Sports and Athletes Key Components of Developed India Vision — Ministers Emphasize Empowerment Through Sports
Jaipur : Union Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change and Alwar MP Shri Bhupender Yadav, along with former Union Minister Smt. Smriti Irani, inaugurated the second phase of the Girls’ Summer Training Camp under the Alwar MP Sports Festival at LIT College, Chakani, Alwar on Wednesday.
Expressing gratitude to Smt. Smriti Irani for attending and encouraging the athletes, Shri Yadav praised her as a symbol of women’s empowerment and noted that her motivational words would surely inspire the young girls. He explained that the purpose of the Alwar MP Sports Festival is to foster a sports culture in the district and provide a strong platform for budding athletes. Top-performing players from the festival are receiving training from some of the best coaches in the country. Additionally, athletes who have brought international glory to India have been invited to the camp.
Shri Yadav announced that renowned athlete Anju Bobby George will visit on June 18 to share sporting tips and motivate participants. Players undergoing training are being registered on the My Bharat portal and connected with various programs of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The camp also includes the screening of sports films and nature walks to foster environmental awareness. He advised the athletes to discard laziness, negative desires, and ego, and adopt at least one good habit in life after leaving the camp.
Smt. Smriti Irani highlighted that Minister Bhupender Yadav has translated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting sports and athletes by giving rural players opportunities through initiatives like the MP Sports Festival. She praised the transformation of a competitive sports event into a social celebration that fosters community bonding and women’s upliftment. The festival not only gives rural girls a chance to play but also offers them professional training. Differently-abled athletes are also being included — a commendable example of inclusivity. Prominent national and international players are encouraging the participants, and the inclusion of an international-level marathon is especially noteworthy.
Interacting with the Athletes
Smt. Irani engaged with 300 girls receiving training at the camp and discussed their experiences. In response to a question from athlete Sanvi, she emphasized the importance of helping others grow. To Komal Saini, she replied that success is guaranteed with sincere effort. Both girls thanked MP Bhupender Yadav for giving rural girls a chance to shine in a place like Alwar. Irani encouraged the participants to stay disciplined and work hard to achieve their goals, while also maintaining a balance between sports and studies.
Former cricketer Gagandeep from Alwar elaborated on how MP Yadav’s efforts have brought Prime Minister Modi’s “Fit India” initiative to life through the Alwar MP Sports Festival. He described it as an excellent platform for the district’s athletes.
Smt. Pragya Yadav, founder of V Shakti Trust, shared details about the trust’s initiatives in sports, e-library development, and women’s empowerment. The event was moderated by Smt. Pratibha Poonia.
