Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Visits Kundmala Accident Site, Meets Injured at Hospital
Pune : Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar visited the Kundmala accident site in Maval Taluka, where a culvert bridge collapsed, leading to a tragic incident. During his visit, he instructed officials to immediately begin the construction of the approved bridge after the monsoon and ensure its early completion.

Pawar was accompanied by MLA Sunil Shelke, District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Joint Commissioner Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, Zilla Parishad CEO Gajanan Patil, PWD Chief Engineer Atul Chavan, Superintending Engineer Bappa Bahir, and Maval Sub-Divisional Officer Surendra Navale, among others.
The Deputy CM reviewed the incident and rescue operations by interacting with officials and locals. He also commended local residents for their swift response and efforts in rescuing victims.
Speaking to the media, Deputy CM Pawar said that Maval Taluka attracts a large number of tourists, and therefore, for enhanced safety and quick emergency response, a modern rescue vehicle will be provided through funds from the District Planning Committee.

He further informed that a committee has been formed to investigate the incident, comprising the Additional District Collector, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Superintending Engineers from PWD and Irrigation Departments, and the Resident Deputy Collector.
Pawar stated that the remaining structure of the damaged bridge will be demolished, and all other structurally unsafe or life-expired bridges as identified by structural auditors will also be dismantled.
New Bridge to Feature Viewing Galleries
The new bridge to be built at the site will be 7.5 meters wide, with two footpaths of 8 feet each on either side. Given the location’s popularity as a tourist spot, two viewing galleries will also be constructed. The state will provide additional funds for this feature. The Deputy CM instructed the concerned contractor to begin work immediately after the monsoon.
Visits Injured at Pavana Hospital
Deputy CM Pawar later visited Pavana Hospital to meet the injured victims of the accident. He instructed the medical staff to ensure that all necessary treatment is provided without delay. He emphasized that the responsibility for coordination of relief and medical aid rests with the Sub-Divisional Officer.
