₹5 Crore Sanctioned Each for Development of Fursungi-Uruli Devachi Nagar Parishad and 23 Newly Merged Villages in Pune Municipal Corporation

Deputy CM Eknath Shinde Resolves Key Issues Related to Merged Villages in Special Meeting

Mumbai : A decision was taken today to sanction ₹5 crore each for the development of the newly formed Fursungi–Uruli Devachi Nagar Parishad and the 23 villages recently merged into the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). This announcement was made during a special meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, held at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, initiated by MLA Vijay Shivtare.

During the meeting, various civic issues faced by the 23 merged villages were reviewed, and Deputy CM Shinde assured that necessary action would be taken to resolve them immediately.

One of the major concerns raised was the foul odor from the garbage depot in Ambegaon Budruk, which has been causing significant distress to residents. In response, Deputy CM Shinde instructed officials to scientifically plan and manage waste disposal only after thorough study. He recommended vermicomposting, creation of dedicated landfill pits, and segregation of waste through proper methods. He also ordered an immediate inspection of the depot and appropriate remedial measures.

The meeting was attended by MP Medha Kulkarni, Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department Dr. K.H. Govindraj, PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, CEO of Pune Zilla Parishad Gajanan Patil, and officials from concerned departments.

Another key point discussed was the supply of drinking water from the Jambhulwadi Lake, which has a capacity of 65 million cubic feet. The proposal is to purify and distribute this water to villages like Ambegaon Khurd and Budruk, Mangdewadi, Bhilarewadi, Koliwade, Gujar Nimbalkarwadi, and others. Deputy CM Shinde directed that the availability and quality of water be assessed before initiating supply for drinking purposes.

The meeting also addressed the issue of increased taxes imposed on the 23 newly merged villages. Deputy CM Shinde instructed the PMC to immediately provide necessary basic infrastructure to these areas. Additionally, he directed that an amnesty scheme be implemented to recover pending taxes, and tax collection should be conducted as per Urban Development Department guidelines.

Another significant issue discussed was the termination of 626 Gram Panchayat employees due to technical constraints during the merger of these villages into PMC limits. Deputy CM Shinde directed the PMC to review their current status and reinstate them on priority.

This meeting reflects the government’s commitment to balanced urban development and ensuring that all residents, including those in newly added areas, benefit from essential civic amenities and fair governance.
