Extension for Crop Insurance Payment until July 31: Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde

Mumbai : Today, July 15, was the final deadline to pay crop insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for just one rupee. However, due to many farmers in the state still not having paid for crop insurance, Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde requested an extension from the central government. Following his request, the deadline has been extended to July 31.

Currently, there is a crowd of beneficiaries at the Common Service Centers (CSC) for various schemes in the state. This has slowed down the server speed, causing delays for farmers in submitting their applications and required documents. Many farmers are still without crop insurance coverage. Consequently, the state agriculture department had been communicating with the central government for an extension. Minister Munde himself was actively following up on this matter.

Accordingly, this evening, the deadline for paying crop insurance for one rupee has been extended to July 31. Agriculture Minister Munde expressed his gratitude to Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan via the microblogging site X. Meanwhile, Minister Munde has urged farmers in the state to participate in the crop insurance scheme in large numbers.
