CM Stalin Lays Foundation for ₹37 Crore Mini Textile Park in Tiruvannamalai — 600 New Jobs for Skilled Technicians

Chennai, Aug 25 : In a significant push to boost employment in the textile sector, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru M.K. Stalin today laid the foundation stone for a Mini Textile Park in Tiruvannamalai. The project, valued at ₹37 crore, is expected to generate 600 new job opportunities for skilled textile technicians. Spread over 63,200 square feet, this modern facility is part of Tamil Nadu’s broader vision to expand its textile infrastructure and create employment hubs across the state.

With a vision to transform Tamil Nadu into a $1 trillion economy by 2030, the State Government, under Chief Minister Stalin’s leadership, has initiated a series of targeted measures to attract large-scale investments and generate extensive job opportunities, particularly for the youth and women in semi-urban and rural regions.

Tamil Nadu’s proactive policies in attracting investments and ensuring job creation have been recognized at the national level. Notably, the state’s remarkable efforts in promoting the textile sector date back to the year 2000, when Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi established the first Textile Park in Tharamani, Chennai, laying the foundation for the state’s robust technical textile ecosystem.

Continuing this legacy, Chief Minister Stalin has spearheaded new initiatives to expand textile infrastructure across Tamil Nadu. On February 18, 2025, he laid foundation stones for two new Textile Parks in Madurai and Tiruchirapalli, worth ₹314 crore and ₹403 crore respectively. Additionally, the Pattabiram Textile Park, built at a cost of ₹5.57 lakh sq. ft. with 21 floors, was inaugurated on November 22, 2024.

Further expansion plans include the establishment of a ₹400 crore Mini Textile Park in Hosur and several smaller parks through the “Mini Textile Park Cluster Scheme” aimed at supporting micro, small, and medium-scale textile enterprises. The government has already launched Mini Textile Parks in Villupuram, Tiruppur, Vellore, Thanjavur, Cuddalore, and Thoothukudi, with ongoing construction at Karur, Kovilpatti, and Namakkal.

Through these initiatives, each Textile Park is expected to create 6,000 employment opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled workers, enhancing socio-economic development in these regions. The parks are designed to be employment generators, particularly for women, and aim to integrate local industries into the global textile supply chain.

Speaking at the foundation-laying event, the Chief Minister emphasized that these Mini Textile Parks will play a pivotal role in fostering inclusive industrial growth, creating job opportunities for thousands of young graduates and diploma holders in the vicinity.

The event was attended by Ministers E.V. Velu (Public Works) and T.R.B. Rajaa (Industries, Investment Promotion, and Commerce), along with Chief Secretary Na. Muruganandham IAS, Industries Secretary V. Arun Roy IAS, TIDCO & Tamil Nadu Smart and Textile Parks Managing Director Mr. Sandeep Nanduri IAS, and several senior government officials.
