Patient from Kanyakumari Successfully Undergoes Rare Cancer Surgery at MGU-G Hospital

Gorakhpur, Aug 2025 : Cancer patients no longer need to rush to Mumbai or other metro cities for complicated surgeries. Complex and rare cancer treatments are now being successfully conducted at the Mahayogi Gorakhnath University Gorakhpur (MGUG)’s Mahayogi Gorakhnath Hospital. In a remarkable case, a 76-year-old patient from Kanyakumari underwent a successful surgery to remove a rare parotid gland cancer under the leadership of world-renowned cancer surgeon Dr. Sanjay Maheshwari and his medical team. With this achievement, the hospital has joined the league of India’s top institutions capable of performing intricate cancer surgeries.

With the establishment of 100 MBBS seats at its affiliated medical college last year, the Mahayogi Gorakhnath Hospital has become fully operational, offering cutting-edge medical facilities. According to Dr. Maheshwari, news of successful cancer treatments at Mahayogi Gorakhnath Hospital reached a 76-year-old patient from Kanyakumari (name withheld for privacy), who was suffering from a rare and complex cancer of the salivary gland. After unsuccessful treatments elsewhere, he arrived at MGUG’s hospital with renewed hope.

The patient underwent a complicated surgery involving a right-sided rare parotid gland cancer excision with suprahyoid block dissection. The operation was led by Dr. Sanjay Maheshwari, with team members Dr. C.M. Sinha, Dr. Tiwari, Dr. Neha, and OT staff members Shubh, Deepak, Ravi, and Raghuram.

The successful surgery of such a rare and intricate cancer has been lauded by MGUG Vice-Chancellor Dr. Surinder Singh and Registrar Dr. Pradeep Kumar Rao. The Vice-Chancellor remarked that the successful treatment of a patient from as far as Kanyakumari reflects the growing national reputation of the hospital. It is noteworthy that the hospital had earlier successfully performed a Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM) surgery for a cancer patient.
