Bharat Scouts and Guides to host WAGGGS Asia Pacific Regional Conference in New Delhi
Chandigarh, Aug 2025 — The Bharat Scouts and Guides-India will proudly host the 15th Asia Pacific Regional Conference of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) from August 19 to 23, 2025, at the Leela Ambience Convention Hotel, New Delhi. This prestigious event will bring together regional and global leaders, Member Organisation decision-makers and youth delegates dedicated to shaping a better future for girls and young women across the Asia Pacific.
A total of 199 participants from 22 Member Organisations, including Girl Guides Australia, Bangladesh Girl Guides Association, Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam, Girl Guides Association of Cambodia, Fiji Girl Guides Association, Hong Kong Girl Guides Association, The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Girl Scouts of Japan, Girl Guides Association of Kiribati, Girl Scouts of Korea, Girl Guides Association Malaysia, Maldives Girl Guides Association, Girl Scouts Association of Mongolia, Myanmar Girl Guides, Nepal Scouts, Girl Guiding New Zealand, Girl Scouts of the Philippines, Girl Guides Singapore, Solomon Islands Girl Guides Association, Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association, Girl Scouts of Taiwan and Girl Guides (Girl Scouts) Association of Thailand, will be attending the conference in person.
Held every three years, the WAGGGS Asia Pacific Regional Conference is a pivotal platform to review progress, align strategies, and elect new leaders to guide the region’s movement for the next triennium. With its theme centred on building inclusive, future-ready leadership, the 2025 edition in India promises to be a transformative milestone in the region’s Guiding journey.
The five-day conference will focus on developing regional strategies that respond to the evolving realities of young people, particularly girls and young women. It seeks to co-create programmes and policies that promote inclusivity, resilience, innovation, and leadership among members across diverse contexts.
Adding immense prestige to the occasion, the conference will be graced by the presence of Her Majesty Queen Azizah Iskandar of Malaysia, Royal Patron of the Friends of Asia Pacific WAGGGS.
India’s selection as the host country reflects its long-standing commitment to youth development, leadership training, and gender equity through the Bharat Scouts and Guides. With its vibrant democracy, diverse heritage, and progressive youth policies, India offers a unique backdrop for a conference dedicated to empowering the next generation of women leaders. Rupinder Brar, Vice-Chair of the Conference and International Commissioner of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, expressed her enthusiasm by stating that it is a tremendous honour for India to host the 15th Asia Pacific Regional Conference. She described the event as more than a gathering—rather a moment of collective reflection, learning, and inspiration, and looked forward to reaffirming the shared mission to equip every girl with the confidence and opportunity to lead.
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) is the world’s largest voluntary movement dedicated to girls and young women, with over 11.2 million members across 153 Member Organisations.
These prestigious events will be organised under the dynamic leadership of Dr. K.K. Khandelwal, IAS (Retd.), Chief National Commissioner, BSG, and executed by Ms. Darshana Pawaskar, Director, BSG, and her team on behalf of the Bharat Scouts and Guides.
