Artist Ravi Paranjpe’s Works Submitted to the Government in the Presence of Minister Adv. Aashish Shelar
Pune, Aug 2025 : While there are different types of sensations, sensitivities, and empathy, artistic works and paintings hold the most significant place among them. The Department of Cultural Affairs aims to unite everyone in the cultural revival, and the submission of the works of the late artist Ravi Paranjpe to the government is an extremely important matter, stated Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Aashish Shelar.
A total of 139 works by the late artist Ravi Paranjpe were submitted to the government in the presence of Minister Adv. Shelar at his residence in Model Colony. On this occasion, Hemant Dalvi, Acting Deputy Director of Archaeology and Museums, and Smita Paranjpe, the late artist’s wife, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
Adv. Shelar said, “Just as ‘AI’ (Artificial Intelligence) is important, ‘CI’ (Creativity) is equally important.” Therefore, the works of Ravi Paranjpe will be preserved appropriately and showcased in various museums under the government for the public to see across the state. These artworks will convey the right message to students in the state. He emphasized that art literacy is crucial and thanked the Paranjpe family for handing over such a valuable collection to the government.
Smita Paranjpe, the late artist’s wife, expressed the desire to submit a total of 139 artworks, including 72 original paintings and 67 framed artworks, to the Maharashtra government. The cultural affairs department received approval to accept these artworks and sign a related Memorandum of Understanding based on a government decision made on June 17, 2025. These artworks were handed over to the Directorate of Archaeology on June 26, 2023. They have currently been relocated to the Shivaji Maharaj Museum in Satara. Subsequently, a significant portion of these artworks will be displayed at the planned Maharashtra State Museum in Mumbai.
