Deputy CM Eknath Shinde Initiates Key Reforms to Accelerate AMRUT & Nagaroththan Infrastructure Projects

…Action to Be Taken Against Officials if Projects Are Not Completed on Time

Mumbai, August 2025 : In line with the directives of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the Urban Development Department has introduced several key provisions to ensure that infrastructure projects under the Central Government’s AMRUT Mission as well as the Nagaroththan Mega Mission are completed within the stipulated time, enabling citizens to receive facilities faster. A government resolution has also been issued in this regard, which states that responsibility will be fixed and action will be taken against those concerned if projects are not completed on time.

These measures are expected to accelerate projects under AMRUT 2.0 and Nagaroththan, bring in greater transparency, and, most importantly, ensure accountability.

According to the new provisions, it has been made mandatory to obtain realistic project planning from contractors when requesting an extension of deadlines. Additionally, if necessary permissions are not received in time from agencies such as the National Highways Authority, Public Works Department, or Forest Department, direct follow-up will be carried out at the ministerial level.

…Else, Action Will Be Taken

If projects are not completed on time, contractors, project management consultants, or implementing officers concerned will face action under the prescribed rules.

Approval has also been granted to appoint a new Project Development & Management Consultant (PDMC) for the AMRUT Mission. Until then, the existing PDMC will continue functioning.

All contracts and work orders must strictly comply with the standards prescribed by the government.

Monthly Reports Made Mandatory

To review project progress, it will now be mandatory for all agencies to submit monthly progress reports to the government. A specific reporting format will be provided for this purpose.

Dedicated Project Cell for Nagaroththan

A separate project management cell will be set up for the Nagaroththan Mega Mission, and a dedicated portal will be developed similar to the AMRUT 2.0 portal.

Furthermore, information on the AMRUT 2.0 portal must be updated every 15 days. A nodal engineer will be appointed in each agency for this task. Failure to update information on time will result in action against the concerned officers.
