Munich, Sept 2025: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin concluded the Germany leg of his two-nation investment tour on a high note, announcing that 26 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹7,020 crore had been signed, expected to generate over 15,000 new jobs in the state. The signing took place at the Tamil Nadu Rising Germany Investment Conclave in Munich, a platform that brought together global industry leaders and state government officials to discuss new opportunities for trade and collaboration.
In a post on X, Stalin declared, “The Germany leg of my foreign investment mission ended on a strong note. At the #TNRising Germany investment conference, 23 MoUs worth ₹3,819 crore were signed, creating over 9,000 jobs. In total, 26 MoUs worth ₹7,020 crore have been signed during the Germany visit, which will create over 15,000 jobs in Tamil Nadu.”
The Chief Minister noted that global leaders in renewable energy, automotive components, and advanced research and development had chosen Tamil Nadu for their next phase of expansion, underscoring the state’s emergence as a preferred global investment hub.

Positioning Tamil Nadu Globally
Speaking at the conference, Stalin drew parallels between Germany and Tamil Nadu’s industrial roles. “Just as Germany is the industrial backbone of Europe, Tamil Nadu is the industrial heartbeat of India. Tamil Nadu is the Germany of India,” he said, highlighting the state’s strong manufacturing base and skilled workforce.
Tamil Nadu already hosts over 60 German companies, including industry giants like BMW, Daimler Mercedes-Benz, Schneider, Siemens, ZF, and Bosch. According to Stalin, the state’s reputation is rapidly evolving to become synonymous with reliability and excellence. “‘Made in Tamil Nadu’ is emerging as a global mark of quality, just like ‘Made in Germany’,” he said.
Stalin also emphasized that his mission was not merely to attract investments but to strengthen long-term partnerships. “I am here to build a bridge between Germany and Tamil Nadu—combining German precision with Tamil Nadu’s capability, building a strong trade relationship between Europe and Asia.”
Major MoUs and Investments
The Tamil Nadu government announced several significant MoUs during Stalin’s visit:
- Knorr-Bremse: The Munich-based world leader in braking systems committed to investing ₹2,000 crore in a new state-of-the-art facility in Tamil Nadu. The plant, which will focus on railway doors and braking systems, marks the company’s first major manufacturing investment in the state. It is expected to create 3,500 jobs and enhance Tamil Nadu’s position as a hub for railway components and advanced engineering.
- Nordex Group: One of the world’s top wind turbine manufacturers, Nordex announced an expansion in Tamil Nadu with an investment of ₹1,000 crore. This project strengthens the state’s leadership in renewable energy manufacturing and green industrialization, cementing its role in India’s transition to sustainable energy solutions.
- EBM-Papst: A global leader in energy-efficient electric motors and air circulation solutions, the company will expand both its Global Competence Centre (GCC) and its manufacturing base in Tamil Nadu. With a proposed investment of ₹201 crore over the next five years, the project will create 250 jobs across HVAC, automotive, and industrial applications.
Together, these MoUs alone bring over ₹3,200 crore in new investments and nearly 6,000 jobs, reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s appeal as a global investment destination.
BMW and the EV Future
During his trip, Stalin also held discussions with senior officials of BMW Group, one of the most prominent German companies operating in Tamil Nadu. Talks focused on strengthening Tamil Nadu’s role in the automotive and electric vehicle (EV) sector. The Chief Minister invited BMW to expand its operations in the state, emphasizing Tamil Nadu’s robust EV infrastructure and policy ecosystem.
BMW leaders reaffirmed their long-term commitment to Tamil Nadu, citing the state’s established industrial base and supportive environment for innovation.
Global Confidence in Tamil Nadu
Reflecting on the outcomes of his Germany visit, Stalin noted the growing confidence of global players in Tamil Nadu’s economic future. “The MoUs signed with Knorr-Bremse, Nordex Group, and EBM-Papst, along with the meaningful engagement with BMW leaders, reflect the world’s growing confidence in our state,” he posted on X.
He reiterated that Tamil Nadu is fast emerging as a centre of excellence in key industrial sectors. “Tamil Nadu carries the strength, vision, and promise to shape global industry,” Stalin said, projecting the state as a strategic destination for international companies seeking long-term growth in Asia.
A Step Towards Global Leadership
The Germany leg of Stalin’s tour has not only secured billions in new investments but also elevated Tamil Nadu’s standing as a global economic player. By strategically aligning with Germany—known worldwide for its industrial and engineering excellence—Tamil Nadu is strengthening its case as India’s foremost manufacturing and innovation hub.
As the Chief Minister concluded his engagements in Munich, he left with a clear message: Tamil Nadu is not just open for business; it is ready to lead the next chapter of industrial growth, where global precision meets local capability.
