Internship Completion and Farewell Ceremony of 56 Lakshadweep Students Held in Kochi
The Internship Completion and Farewell Ceremony of 56 students from Government College of Arts & Science, Kadmat (Lakshadweep) was held today at Mercy Hotel, Ernakulam. These students successfully completed a 45-day internship at leading hotels across Kerala, including Le Méridien, Crowne Plaza, Taj Vivanta, Radisson Blu, The Raviz Kadavu, The Raviz Calicut, and Fragrant Nature Hotel.

This initiative is a direct reflection of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s call to industry to provide apprenticeship opportunities to youth, thereby enhancing their skills, employability, and confidence through real-world exposure.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Venkatesan Dhattarayan, Regional Director (South), Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, congratulated the students on their achievement. He said that students receiving certificates on completion of their 45-day internship aligns with the Ministry of Tourism’s aim of skilling, upskilling and reskilling stakeholders and industry leaders.
Highlighting the importance of such programmes, Shri Dhattarayan noted that internships in leading hotels provide students with exposure to real-time operations in the hospitality sector. He encouraged students to carry the message of warmth and hospitality with them and share their experiences with their juniors.
He further observed that this is the third consecutive year that students from Lakshadweep have come for internship in Kerala. Emphasising the values of the sector, he remarked that an attitude of service is essential in hospitality. With tourism steadily developing in Lakshadweep, Shri Dhattarayan underlined that students will find more opportunities in the tourism sector in the years ahead.

During the ceremony, students were awarded certificates marking the successful completion of their internship. General Managers of the participating hotels were also present at the ceremony to felicitate and encourage the interns.
