Permission to Use Loudspeakers and Amplifiers from 6 AM to Midnight for Three Days During Navratri in Mumbai Suburbs
Order by Mumbai Suburban District Collector; Compliance with Noise Limits Mandatory
Mumbai, Sept 2025: Against the backdrop of Navratri celebrations, the Mumbai Suburban District Collector has issued an order regarding the use of loudspeakers and amplifiers. On the three days of Saptami (September 29), Ashtami (September 30), and Navami (October 1), loudspeakers and amplifiers may be used for religious and cultural programs from 6:00 AM to 12:00 midnight.
Conditions and Restrictions:
- Strict compliance with prescribed noise limits is mandatory during the permitted hours.
- The guidelines issued from time to time by the High Court must be followed, and care should be taken to avoid any violation of court orders.
- This permission will not apply in areas declared as silence zones by the government.
- Provisions of Rules 3 and 4 of the Noise Pollution Rules, 2000 must be observed.
- In case of complaints, the Noise Authority will have the power to take action under the Environment Protection Act, 1986.
- Violation of this order will result in strict action against those responsible.

For Navratri’s Saptami, Ashtami, and Navami, the use of loudspeakers and amplifiers will be allowed in Mumbai Suburban district until midnight, but adherence to the set limits and conditions is compulsory, District Collector Saurabh Katiyar has stated in the order.
