Agriculture Trade Festival – 2025 successfully conducted at Nandambakkam, Chennai Trade Centre
“Agriculture Trade Festival – 2025” held on 27.09.2025 and 28.09.2025 by Department of Agriculture–Farmers’ Welfare
Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. M.K. Stalin inaugurated “Agriculture Trade Festival – 2025” at Nandambakkam, Chennai Trade Centre on 27.09.2025. The festival was held successfully for two days, 27.09.2025 and 28.09.2025. Already, in 2022–23, the first Agricultural Exhibition and Seminar was held; this year’s is the second event.
“Agriculture Trade Festival – 2025” was a common platform where farmers, farmer producer organizations, food processing organizations, exporters, general public, and health experts all benefited, with the aim of increasing domestic and export opportunities for agricultural produce and value-added products made by farmers.
At this festival, exhibitions included: the evolution, growth, and strength of Tamil agricultural trade from Sangam age to present; nutrient-rich millets, medicinal crops, drumstick, turmeric, sugarcane, cashew, groundnut, and various agricultural products; value-added products and machines; Tamil Nadu Agricultural Development Scheme, Chief Minister’s “Save Soil, Save Life” Scheme, Farmer Welfare Centres, Nutrition Agriculture Movement, organic vegetables, government welfare schemes, value-addition machines, export promotion stalls, etc. All were set up and explained by Agriculture–Farmers’ Welfare Department and related agencies, with visitors and buyers actively participating and benefiting.
Also, food stalls offered organic food, balanced diet for urban lifestyle, food processing and value-addition, organic and natural farming, value addition in millets, product launches and demonstrations by Farmer Producer Companies, online marketing, export opportunities, good agricultural practices, and achievements of Agriculture–Farmers’ Welfare Department over four years. Totally, 12 seminars were held, with participation and interaction by visitors and buyers.
In this Agriculture Trade Festival, on both days together, 15,420 farmers and 1,42,172 visitors participated – a total of 1,57,592 people benefited. Sales worth ₹2.89 crore were recorded, with 121 metric tons of value-added food products, ready-to-eat foods, medicinal food products, and organic millet foods sold and liked by visitors.
Further, in the food court, 20 stalls run by farmer producer organizations, women self-help groups, and private hotels sold tender coconut water, coffee, fruit juices, soups, various snacks, vegetarian dishes, and tiffin items, which were well received by visitors and always crowded.
Farmer producer companies, organic food companies, export companies, food processing and packaging companies, agricultural product value-addition machinery companies all exhibited and sold their export-quality value-added products.
In total, 222 stalls were set up in the festival – 168 farmer producer company stalls, 25 government department information stalls, and 29 private company stalls. Farmer producer companies were given stalls free of cost.
Through this Agriculture Trade Festival, awareness was created across Tamil Nadu – in Chennai and other metropolitan cities – about various agricultural products and value-added items produced and marketed. It served as a platform encouraging visitors and buyers to view agriculture as a profitable enterprise.
