Tonakpur Receives Development Boost of ₹36.30 Crore; CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Inaugurates 15 Development Projects
Tonakpur, Oct 2025: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation for 15 key development projects in Tonakpur, totaling ₹36.30 crore, during the “Chief Minister Empowered Sister Festival” held at the Chhingigoth Sports Ground, Tonakpur. The event also saw the Chief Minister handing over the symbolic “Keys of Happiness” to women from Self-Help Groups, marking a step toward their economic empowerment.
The projects aim to strengthen infrastructure and provide improved facilities in sectors such as education, drinking water, law and order, tourism, and welfare.
Inaugurated Projects – 9 Projects totaling ₹9.38 crore
- Chief Minister Camp Office Building, Tonakpur – Constructed by Provincial Division, PWD, Champawat at a cost of ₹45 lakh. CM Dhami said, “This camp office will not only serve as an administrative building but also as a center to resolve public issues, strengthening coordination between administration and citizens.”
- Smart classrooms at Government Primary School, Fagpur, and Junior High School, Fagpur – ₹76.40 lakh
- Reconstruction of Government Primary School, Bhajanpur – ₹74.50 lakh
- Construction of two classrooms at David Painter School, Gudmi – ₹16.00 lakh
- Bhaisiyakhal Pumping Drinking Water Scheme – ₹136.77 lakh
- Bichai Pumping Drinking Water Scheme – ₹182.61 lakh
- Establishment of City Control Room at Kotwali Tonakpur and supply of equipment for traffic management – ₹239.05 lakh
- Upgradation of Tourist Accommodation Hall and Rooms, Tonakpur – ₹68.00 lakh
- Road repair from Tonakpur Power Station main gate to Patni Tiraha, Banbasa by NHPC Banbasa – ₹100.00 lakh
Foundation Laid for 6 Projects totaling ₹26.93 crore
- Construction of Examination Hall at Government College, Tonakpur by Bridkul Haldwani – ₹826.99 lakh
- Ladigad Shri Purnagiri Pumping Drinking Water Scheme – ₹811.70 lakh
- Thuligad/Babligad Pumping Drinking Water Scheme – ₹712.87 lakh
- Construction of Multipurpose Building for Buksa & Rajee Tribes at Khirdwari Village – ₹60.00 lakh
- Establishment of Block Public Health Unit at Primary Health Centre, Banbasa – ₹50.00 lakh
- Construction of Shed for Pilgrims visiting Maa Purnagiri Dham at Gram Chuka, Tonakpur by NHPC Banbasa – ₹231.00 lakh
The Chief Minister stated, “Completion of these projects will provide a new direction to the social, economic, and educational development of the Tonakpur region and serve as a foundation for comprehensive upliftment of this border area.”
Empowering Women Through Self-Help Groups
As part of the REEP project, CM Dhami handed over five e-rickshaws to women from the Prerna Self-Help Group, symbolically giving them the “Keys of Happiness.” He said, “These e-rickshaws are not merely vehicles but represent a new identity of women’s self-reliance and dignity. They will enable women to earn a better income and establish a strong presence in sectors traditionally dominated by men, like public transportation.”
He further emphasized the government’s goal to transform women from ‘beneficiaries’ to empowered entrepreneurs, providing financial, technical, and training support for collective ventures, encouraging self-reliance, and inspiring other women. He added, “Such initiatives will not only strengthen the rural economy but also connect women’s power to new opportunities and recognition.”
