Tricolour Trails to Light Up Chhattisgarh’s Sky: Thrilling Surya Kiran Air Show in Naya Raipur on November 5
Fighter aircraft will perform manoeuvres forming heart, diamond, loop, grover, dawn and several other formations
Nine fighter aircraft will showcase aerial stunts for half an hour
Raipur, Nov 2025 : The sky over Chhattisgarh will light up with tricolour streaks as the Indian Air Force’s aerobatic Surya Kiran team performs a spectacular air show in Naya Raipur on November 5. The performance will take place above the Sendh reservoir in Nava Raipur. The Surya Kiran team has already arrived in Raipur to present their breathtaking aerial display as part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of Chhattisgarh’s statehood.

The thrilling show will feature nine fighter aircraft from the Surya Kiran team. Team leader Ajay Dasharathi and other members, during a press conference at the New Circuit House, said the event aims to inspire youth to join the Indian Air Force and ignite a spirit of patriotism. They said the performance would be a memorable moment for the people of Chhattisgarh. Fighter pilot Gaurav Patel from Chhattisgarh will also take part in the show. A total of 140 Surya Kiran team members have reached Raipur, including 12 fighter pilots, 3 engineers, and ground staff. The Air Force will also provide commentary during the performance.
The air show will showcase the courage, discipline, and expertise of fighter pilots, offering spectators a thrilling and unforgettable experience. The Surya Kiran team will rehearse on November 4, while the final show will be held between 10 am and 12 pm on November 5. During the display, fighter aircraft will perform manoeuvres forming heart, diamond, loop, grover, dawn, and other formations in the sky. The aircraft will also trail a vibrant tricolour. The air show will last approximately 30 to 35 minutes.
The Surya Kiran aircraft perform rapid manoeuvres at altitudes ranging from 100 feet to 10,000 feet. The show has been designed so it is clearly visible within a 10–15 km radius, allowing spectators to witness the valour of the Indian Air Force.
The team flies the Hawk Mk-132 aircraft manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, which is also used for fighter pilot training. The last Surya Kiran performance in Raipur took place 15 years ago, featuring the Surya Kiran Mk-2 aircraft.
Team members said the event aims not only to entertain but also to motivate youth in the state and across the country to join the armed forces. The Surya Kiran team has performed over 700 air shows in India and abroad, including a recent display in Thailand. Pilots shared that they undergo eight months of rigorous training before qualifying for air shows. While the performances involve risks, they are made possible by the team’s strong coordination and unwavering trust.
Those present at the press conference included Group Captain Siddhesh Kartik, Squadron Leader Jasdeep Singh, Rahul Singh, Gaurav Patel, Sanjesh Singh, and Flight Lieutenant Kanwal Sandhu.
