TN Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin Awards ₹25 Lakh to Asian Para Powerlifting Silver Medallist Maharajan
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has consistently encouraged Tamil Nadu’s athletes by offering generous financial incentives to those who compete at national and international levels. To ensure that financial constraints do not hinder athletes’ participation, the Tamil Nadu government established the TN Champions Foundation.
Through this foundation, athletes receive financial support for:
- Advanced sports equipment
- Travel and accommodation for tournaments
- Training expenses
- International competition participation
This initiative ensures that Tamil Nadu’s sportsmen and women can compete globally without financial barriers.
Financial Assistance for Kickboxing World Championship Participants
During the ceremony, Udhayanidhi Stalin also sanctioned ₹19.25 lakh for 11 athletes who will represent India at the World Senior Kickboxing Championship in Abu Dhabi from November 21 to 30, 2025.
Each athlete will receive ₹1,75,000 to cover travel, accommodation, and other competition-related expenses.
Additional Support to State Athletes
The Deputy Chief Minister further distributed:
- ₹2.75 lakh worth of sports equipment assistance to five basketball players selected by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT)
- ₹1,64,500 financial aid to Para Shot Put athlete S. Charity Thomas for her participation in an upcoming global skills sports event
All assistance was provided through the TN Champions Foundation’s dedicated fund.
Massive Support Extended So Far
The TN Champions Foundation has so far provided ₹36 crore in financial support to 4,082 athletes, including 481 para-athletes, enabling them to participate in national and international competitions and purchase high-quality sports equipment.
