Celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh at Odisha State Tribal MuseumProgrammes to Continue till November 15
Bhubaneswar, Nov 2025: The Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh is being celebrated across the country from November 1 to November 15, 2025, to honour the rich tribal heritage, culture, and their invaluable contribution to nation-building.
In line with this national celebration, the Odisha State Tribal Museum, under the aegis of the Department of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare, Government of Odisha, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI), is observing the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda with a series of special programmes and exhibitions.
On this occasion, a dedicated Bhagwan Birsa Munda Pavilion has been set up at the museum. The celebration also features a painting exhibition depicting the life and struggles of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a photo exhibition showcasing the life and culture of various tribal communities of Odisha, and live demonstrations of traditional textile weaving by the Kulis tribe. Additionally, Juang tribal artists are exhibiting their traditional paintings. Special guided tours of the Odisha State Tribal Museum have been arranged for school and college students as part of the outreach activities.
It may be recalled that the Government of India had declared the period from November 15, 2024, to November 15, 2025, as the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the great tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda and to celebrate the glorious contributions of tribal communities to the nation.
