Jharkhand Gears Up for President Draupadi Murmu’s Visit with Tribal Art, Literary Honors, and Tight Security in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Dec 2025 : President Draupadi Murmu is set to be warmly welcomed in Jamshedpur on Monday with a vibrant display of tribal art, cultural performances, and a host of distinguished personalities from Santhali literature, along with stringent security arrangements across the city. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren extended their official welcome to President Murmu on Sunday, signaling the significance of her visit to the industrial and cultural hub of Jharkhand.

Preparations for the visit have been extensive. According to officials, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) and Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (TSUSIL) collaborated to decorate prominent city walls, from the airport to the residences of the District Collector (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SSP), with images celebrating tribal folk culture in the traditional Sohrai-Khiber style. These murals will serve as a visual prelude to President Murmu’s visit, which includes a stay at the local Circuit House alongside the Governor and Chief Minister before proceeding to Dishom Jaher Sthan in Karandih.

Security measures have been intensified for the President’s visit. On the instructions of East Singhbhum DC Karan Satyarthi, Dhalbhum Sub-Divisional Officer Chandrajeet Singh declared a no-flying zone for 28 hours from 6 p.m. on Sunday to 10 p.m. on Monday. The restriction extends beyond Jamshedpur city to include Potka, Patamda, and Boram blocks, prohibiting the flight of airplanes, drones, and hot air balloons. Additionally, three Indian Air Force helicopters arrived on Sunday for trial flights over Sonari Airport, while a mock convoy run from the airport to Karandih was conducted under the supervision of DC SSP Piyush Pandey and senior officials.

President Murmu will arrive at Dishom Jaher Sthan in Karandih at approximately 10:40 a.m. to participate in the Ol Chiki Centenary Celebrations of the All India Santhali Writers’ Association (AISA). This marks her second attendance at the AISA Conclave since assuming the presidency, having previously participated on November 20, 2023. A long-time life member of the Adivasi Socio-Educational and Cultural Association (ASECA), President Murmu has actively promoted the Santhali language and Ol Chiki script throughout her political career as MLA, Minister, and Governor of Jharkhand. Recently, she unveiled the Santhali translation of the Indian Constitution at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

According to AISA General Secretary Rabindranath Murmu, the program will feature a traditional tribal hunting song, Sendra, performed by a local group, followed by the national anthem performed by girls from Patamda Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ Residential School and the Swar Viper band. During the event, President Murmu will honor 12 eminent Santhali litterateurs for their contributions to Santhali literature and the Ol Chiki script.

Traffic and city logistics are being carefully managed. A joint order from the East Singhbhum DC, SSP, and Traffic DSP bans all heavy and commercial vehicles from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday. Traffic along the main route from Sonari Airport to NIT-Jamshedpur via Karandih and Adityapur will be stopped or diverted between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and industrial shifts in the Adityapur Industrial Area have been rescheduled. The Tata-Odisha State Highway will be closed for one hour, and the Kharkai Bridge will be inaccessible from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

President Murmu will also attend the 15th convocation of NIT-Jamshedpur in the afternoon before departing for Ranchi from Sonari Airport at around 3:30 p.m. Security is being reinforced with central and local forces, including the President’s Guard and special units monitoring high-rise buildings and key locations. Drones will oversee residential areas along the route, and traffic diversions have been planned to ensure smooth movement.

From the cultural celebrations to the meticulously planned security arrangements, Jamshedpur is poised to host a historic and colorful reception for President Draupadi Murmu, highlighting her longstanding support for tribal culture and literature while ensuring a safe and well-organized visit.

Team Maverick.
