Urban Development Projects to Align with ‘Developed India @2047’ Vision: CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that urban development projects in the state should be implemented in alignment with the goals of ‘Developed India @2047’. Emphasis should be placed on improving the financial health of urban local bodies, increasing private investment in urban areas, expanding the use of information technology–based systems in citizen services, and promoting urban mobility and the adoption of electric vehicles. He directed that, on the lines of the ‘Namami Gange’ initiative, work should be initiated under the ‘Namami Narmada’ Project, with an action plan prepared for solid and liquid waste management in urban settlements along the Narmada riverbanks, environmental improvement, and the reuse of treated water. The Chief Minister also emphasised the need for heightened vigilance and preparedness in water supply and sewerage systems across all urban local bodies.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav chaired the 11th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company Limited at the Mantralaya on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing Smt. Pratima Bagri, Chief Secretary, Shri Anurag Jain, and members of the Board. Managerial, financial, audit and accounting matters of the company were discussed, and necessary decisions were taken.
During the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, approval was accorded to a proposal to establish four independent professional divisions within the Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company for urban development in the state. These include divisions for Asset Management and PPP Mode, Information Technology, Urban Mobility and Namami Narmada, as well as Green and River Conservation.
Under the Asset Management and PPP Division, priority will be accorded to making urban local bodies self-reliant, encouraging private investment in public-interest projects, ensuring financial discipline, strengthening coordination with NITI Aayog and other concerned departments, and advancing metropolitan area development planning. Innovations such as solar projects, green bonds and alternative use of unused assets have also been proposed.
Under the Information Technology Division, smart city systems including the e-Nagar Palika platform, CCTV–GIS-based monitoring, upgradation of citizen service platforms, toll collection e-portals and online revenue collection systems will be implemented.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed the preparation of plans for the planned development of areas surrounding urban local bodies. He instructed that, considering the cultural and religious significance of the Narmada and Tapti rivers, comprehensive action plans be prepared for their holistic development. He said that, like ‘Namami Gange’, the ‘Namami Narmada’ Project should be implemented in a coordinated manner by all concerned departments, including the Urban Development and Housing Department, Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Industries Department, and Forest and Environment Department.
Under the Urban Mobility Division, implementation of the Madhya Pradesh EV Policy, development of multi-modal transport hubs, ropeways, multi-level parking facilities, public bicycle services, city mobility plans, and construction of EV charging infrastructure will be undertaken.
Additional Chief Secretaries Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Shri Sanjay Dubey, Smt. Dipali Rastogi, Principal Secretaries Shri Sukhbir Singh and Shri P. Narhari, Commissioner Urban Administration and Housing Shri Sanket Bhondve and other officials of the company were present in the meeting.
