Statewide Surya Namaskar campaign to be held from January 12 to February 12
Chandigarh, January 2026 – With the objective of taking yoga to the masses, the Haryana Yoga Aayog has been organising the grand Surya Namaskar festival every year. This year as well, the campaign will be held from January 12, on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, to February 12, marking the birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati. In this connection, the Ayush Department is organising training sessions for yoga assistants to ensure effective implementation of the campaign.
Sharing information in this regard, a spokesperson of the Haryana Yoga Aayog said that with the support of the Ayush Department, Haryana has set six world records, including a Guinness Book of World Records achievement, through this campaign over the past four years. The spokesperson said that under the campaign, each district has been given a target of a minimum of one lakh registrations, and directions have been issued to ensure 100 percent participation from all villages.
The spokesperson further informed that departments such as Ayush, Education, Sports, Health, Police, Arya Samaj, along with other institutions and all major departments, will participate in the campaign. Master trainers have been given special training and will ensure the practice of Surya Namaskar in schools, colleges, and yoga centres.
The spokesperson said that under this campaign, Surya Namaskar will be practiced during early morning hours following yogic methods. Every day, six rounds of Surya Namaskar will be practiced in a duration of 10 to 15 minutes. In addition, participants and institutions who practice for six consecutive days and update the details on the website will be provided online certificates. Registration on the official campaign website (http://www.suryanamaskarharyana.in) will be mandatory for all participants.
