Additional Chief Secretary speaks at the two-day state-level workshop organized at Ganga Auditorium of SCERT regarding the implementation of SQAaF
A transparent, simple and fully digital school evaluation system now being implemented to reassess and strengthen the quality of council-run and secondary schools
Lucknow, January 2026 : In Uttar Pradesh, a transparent, simple and fully digital school evaluation system is now being implemented to reassess and strengthen the quality of council-run and secondary schools. In line with the spirit of the National Education Policy-2020, school assessment under the School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (SQAaF) will not be based on punishment or inspection, but on the principles of self-evaluation, guidance, and continuous improvement.
This was stated by the Additional Chief Secretary, Basic and Secondary Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma, on the first day of the two-day state-level workshop organized for the implementation of SQAaF.
The Additional Chief Secretary said that the objective of SQAaF is not to discourage schools in any way, but to identify educational challenges and empower schools for quality improvement. This framework is not merely an assessment document, but a guiding system that will help schools develop in accordance with global quality standards.
He explained that SQAaF has two major components: “Standards” and “Mechanism.” The mechanism is being developed in such a way that the entire process is transparent, digital, and user-friendly, so that schools do not face any difficulty in compliance. At the same time, the standards are being designed so that principals, teachers, students, and parents all clearly understand the parameters on which the school is being evaluated and the direction for improvement.
Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma further said that the implementation of SQAaF is being carried out with the overall welfare of children at the center. Curriculum, teaching processes, school-community participation, the social impact of the school, and co-curricular activities have been included as part of the evaluation, to ensure the holistic development of students. It will also be ensured that this process does not place unnecessary pressure on teachers and officials.
Addressing the workshop, Director General, School Education, Uttar Pradesh, Mrs. Monika Rani said that a positive educational experience is essential in schools not only for children, but also for teachers and parents. Teachers are not merely instructors of subject matter, but guides for children, therefore SQAaF will be implemented with a sensitive and collaborative approach.
Senior officials, experts, principals, and teachers from SCERT, SSSA, and various educational institutions were present at the workshop. Experts gave detailed presentations on the structure, process, and implementation of SQAaF.
