Telangana and Vaud Forge Path for Global Retail, Cultural, and Sports Collaboration

Davos, Jan 2026 : A visionary collaboration is set to take shape as Telangana charts a new chapter in global retail and cultural exchange. At the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy held a high-level discussion with Christelle Luisier Brodard, Chief Minister of the Council of Vaud, Switzerland, exploring partnership opportunities under the broader framework of the India–Switzerland free trade agreement.

The dialogue covered diverse areas, including culture, education, skill development, and training, with a particular focus on hospitality management and sports. Both leaders also exchanged ideas on best practices in the retail and life sciences sectors to strengthen bilateral collaboration, fostering innovation and knowledge sharing between Telangana and Vaud.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy showcased the Telangana Rising 2047 vision and highlighted the state’s investment and development opportunities. He proposed the establishment of a world-first “Swiss Mall” in Hyderabad, an idea that was positively received by the Swiss delegation, who welcomed the innovative concept as a unique opportunity for cross-border retail and cultural exchange.

Sports collaboration also emerged as a key focus, as both Chief Ministers, being avid football players, discussed initiatives to promote youth engagement and athletic excellence. The discussions emphasized leveraging sports as a platform to nurture talent, encourage healthy lifestyles, and foster international sporting partnerships.

Additionally, the Swiss delegation expressed strong interest in supporting Telangana’s vision for women empowerment, particularly through self-help groups and community-driven initiatives. Isabelle Moret, Industries & Economy Minister of Vaud, confirmed that a Swiss team will soon visit Hyderabad to assess and explore detailed opportunities for collaboration across these sectors.

The meeting underscored a shared commitment to innovation, youth development, and sustainable growth, positioning Telangana as a hub for global investment, cultural exchange, and strategic partnerships. By combining expertise in retail, life sciences, sports, and women’s empowerment, Telangana and Vaud aim to create a blueprint for long-term collaboration that benefits both regions.
