Apple Unveils iPhone 18 Pro Series With Camera, Performance and AI Upgrades

New Delhi, September 2026 : Apple on Wednesday unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, at its fall “Surprise and Shine” event, highlighting major upgrades in camera technology, performance, battery life and artificial intelligence.

While the overall design of the new Pro models remains similar to the previous generation, Apple has substantially enhanced their camera capabilities. Both smartphones feature a 48-megapixel main camera with a variable aperture mechanism built using six thin blades.

The company has also added professional camera controls, allowing users to adjust settings such as white balance, shutter speed, aperture and histogram directly through the Camera app.

For video recording, the iPhone 18 Pro models can shoot 4K footage in Dolby HDR Vision. Users can also apply cinematic effects to footage after recording, providing greater flexibility during post-production and editing.

Apple has made changes to the front-facing design as well. The new Pro models feature a smaller Dynamic Island, which can display up to three Live Activities simultaneously. The feature allows users to monitor multiple updates without leaving the app or screen they are currently using.

Powering the devices is Apple’s latest A20 Pro chip, paired with a redesigned vapor chamber intended to improve thermal management during demanding workloads. Apple has also redesigned the battery system to extend overall endurance.

According to the company, the iPhone 18 Pro can deliver up to 36 hours of video playback, while the larger iPhone 18 Pro Max can provide up to 45 hours on a single charge.

Artificial intelligence was another major focus of the launch. Apple showcased an upgraded Siri AI with contextual on-screen intelligence, designed to understand information and actions displayed on the iPhone screen and respond more effectively to user requests.

With iOS 27, Apple is also introducing an iPhone handoff feature that allows users to operate two iPhones using a single eSIM and switch between the devices.

The iPhone 18 Pro lineup will also be available in a new burgundy colour, replacing the orange finish offered with the previous-generation models.

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299, marking a $100 increase over the corresponding models launched last year.

Pre-orders for the new smartphones will begin on Saturday, with both models scheduled to officially go on sale on September 18.
