Free transport service will be available to all women on Rakshabandhan festival

Lucknow : Under CM Yogi’s directives, the Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation will provide additional transport services during Raksha Bandhan and the Constable Civil Police Recruitment Examination.

The corporation has been instructed to maximize the number of buses in operation from August 18 to September 1, 2024 (15 days) to ensure smooth public travel during these events.

During this period, 100% of the buses will be operational, with necessary parts and assemblies pre-arranged.

All officers must be on duty, except in emergencies, and no one shall be absent without prior notice.

Daya Shankar Singh, Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge), Uttar Pradesh, said, “The Transport Corporation will offer free transportation to all women on Raksha Bandhan, from midnight on August 18, 2024, to midnight on August 19, 2024.”

He added, ” Additionally, candidates appearing for the Constable Police Recruitment exams will receive free transport from August 22 to August 26, 2024, and from August 29 to September 1, 2024. Candidates will be available for free travel 24 hours before and after the exam date. Candidates must present a photocopy of their admit card to the conductor during the journey to and from the exam. This photocopy is mandatory to avail yourself of the free travel service.”

The Additional MD of the Transport Corporation, Ram Singh Verma, has instructed all regional transport officials to deploy additional buses as needed for the Rakshabandhan festival and constable recruitment exam, following the Transport Minister’s directives.

He emphasized that during this period, all contracted buses must be operated, and employees should adhere to their assigned duties according to the roster. Additional buses should be deployed to various destinations based on passenger demand. Buses and bus stands must be kept clean, and the checking team should conduct thorough inspections of the routes.
To ensure safe travel, drivers and conductors should undergo alcohol testing using breath analyzers. Additionally, passengers boarding along the route should be provided seating facilities in the buses.

The Additional MD of the Transport Corporation said, “The drivers and conductors, including contractual staff, will receive incentives based on their performance during this period. Those who work daily and complete 4,500 km will earn an incentive of ₹3,000. Employees who work 14 days and cover 4,200 km will receive ₹2,250, while those working 13 days and covering 3,900 km will be awarded ₹1,500. An extra payment of 55 paise per km will be provided for exceeding the set distance. Similarly, technical staff at depots and regional workshops who are present daily during this period will receive a lump sum incentive of ₹1,200, with ₹1,000 for 14 days of work and ₹800 for 13 days.
