Rakshabandhan celebration: Women tied Rakhi to security force personnel
The festival of Raksha Bandhan was celebrated with great pomp at the camp of 41st ITBP Battalion in village Ranapal of Mardapal area of Kondagaon district. Women of the area expressed their affection and respect by tying Rakhi to the soldiers deployed in this Maoist-affected area. In this event, the celebration of Raksha Bandhan not only became a symbol of brother-sister love but also brought the message of belongingness for the soldiers. In the program, beneficiary women of Mahtari Vandan Yojana also increased the respect of the soldiers by tying Rakhi to them. It is worth mentioning that under Mahtari Vandan Yojana, eligible beneficiary women receive an amount of one thousand rupees every month.
Expressed gratitude towards the Chief Minister
The beneficiaries of Mahtari Vandan Yojana expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai on this occasion. The women said that the Chief Minister is like a brother to them, who takes care of their every need. The financial assistance received under the scheme has empowered them.
Indu Baghel said emotionally, “Our Vishnu Bhaiya gives us money every month under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, so that I do not need to ask for money from my husband. Vishnu Bhaiya loves us a lot and supports us in our every trouble.”
Emotional Rukhmani Nag: Considered brave soldiers as brothers
This was a special occasion for Rukhmani Nag, a resident of Badekurusnar village and Anganwadi worker. While tying Rakhi to the soldiers, her eyes became moist. She said, I do not have any real brother, but by tying Rakhi to these brave young brothers of mine, I feel that now I have many brothers. All our soldiers of the security force who stay away from their families for our safety, are all like brothers to me. Rukhmani also said that now she will tie Rakhi to the soldiers every year.
Kondagaon Collector Shri Kunal Dudawat and Superintendent of Police Shri Y Akshay Kumar also participated in this event. The women there tied Rakhi to them too, which reflected the sweetness and love of the brother-sister relationship. The Collector said on this occasion, “The festival of Rakshabandhan inspires us to take a pledge of protection. Our soldiers are engaged in the security of the area with devotion day and night. Their dedication and courage are exemplary.”
Superintendent of Police Shri Y Akshay Kumar said that our soldiers are engaged with full devotion in the security of the district. They are thousands of kilometers away from their home, and we cannot make them meet their families, but today I am happy that the sisters of Ranapal made our soldiers feel their love and affection by tying Rakhi to them. We are grateful to them for this.

This event reduced the feeling of being away from home for the soldiers and they felt a sense of belonging and family affection.
