Four Odia Youths Stranded in Thailand Return Home Safely After State Government Help
Feb 2026 : Acting on the instructions of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, four Odia youths who were stranded in Thailand have been safely brought back to Odisha.
The youths — Jayanta Kumar Mallick, Hemanta Kumar Behera, Manaranjan Sahu and Bijay Kumar Swain — reached Odisha today. They belong to Kendrapara and Bhadrak districts.
The six youths had gone to Thailand in August 2025 to work in a plywood company. However, they later said that the company owner did not pay their wages and that they were facing serious difficulties. With no help available, they appealed to the Odisha Government for assistance through social media.
After the matter came to light, the Odisha Government immediately stepped in. With support from the Ministry of External Affairs, the Odisha Government’s office in New Delhi, concerned state departments and the district administrations, coordinated efforts were made to bring them back home.
As a result, four of the six youths have now safely returned to Odisha. The remaining two are still being assisted.
After reaching home, the returned youths thanked the Odisha Government for its timely help and support, saying the intervention brought them great relief after months of hardship.
