Chhattisgarh Wins Silver in Football, Loses 0-1 to West Bengal in Final

Raipur, April 2026: Chhattisgarh secured the silver medal in men’s football at the Khelo India Tribal Games after a hard-fought 0-1 defeat against West Bengal in the final held at Swami Vivekananda Athletic Stadium, Kota, Raipur.

The final match witnessed an intense and thrilling contest between the two teams, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats. Both sides displayed exceptional skill and determination, making it a closely contested encounter throughout.

Chhattisgarh delivered an impressive performance, showcasing excellent coordination, quick attacking moves, and a strong defensive setup. The players maintained high energy and confidence, ensuring that the match remained competitive at every stage.

Despite their efforts, West Bengal managed to take a crucial 1-0 lead before halftime. In the second half, Chhattisgarh launched continuous attacks in an attempt to equalise, but the opposition’s defence held firm, denying them a breakthrough.

Although Chhattisgarh could not overturn the deficit, their spirited performance earned them the silver medal, marking a commendable achievement in the tournament.

A large number of spectators, including Sports and Youth Welfare Department Secretary Yashwant Kumar, officials from various departments, representatives of the Sports Authority of India, and sports enthusiasts, were present at the stadium to witness the exciting final.
