Lunglei DCC/DLRC/DLSC Meeting 1800/2024-2025

Today, the Lunglei District Consultative Committee (DCC), District Level Review Committee (DLRC), and District Level Security Committee (DLSC) held a meeting under the chairmanship of District Commissioner Pu R. Lalṭhazuala at the Lunglei DC Conference Hall.

Chairman Pu R. Lalṭhazuala expressed his appreciation to the members and urged the bankers to continue their essential role in serving the public. He emphasized the importance of raising awareness among the public about the various financial schemes available through banks and encouraged the intensified efforts of the Financial Literacy Campaign. He also called for a coordinated approach with various government line departments to spread awareness about cybercrime to the public.

The meeting was attended by Lead District Manager Pu R. Lalmalsawma, Manager & Lead District Officer RBI Aizawl Pi Ruth Paumunmuang, representatives from various banks, line departments, and members of the Sub-Headquarters YMA and Sub-Headquarters MHIP.

During the meeting, the minutes of the previous DCC meeting were approved. A review was conducted on the activities of various banks in Lunglei District for the period from April to June 2024 (1st Quarter, 2024-25), along with discussions on their progress and future plans.

It was noted that significant progress had been made under schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) for zero balance accounts and various Social Security Schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). The Credit/Deposit Ratio of the banks in Lunglei District for the 1st Quarter of 2024 stood at 71.66%. Banks in the district have issued loans under the Annual Credit Plan (ACP), with 39.29% in the Priority Sector and 183.74% in the Non-Priority Sector. A total of ₹21 lakh in loans was provided to 11 Self Help Groups, while crop loans under the KCC scheme amounted to ₹1,018.23 lakh; Animal Husbandry loans to ₹585.33 lakh; and Fishery loans to ₹2.25 lakh. Additionally, during 2024-2025, ₹176.05 lakh was disbursed to 48 beneficiaries under the PMEGP scheme. Mizoram Rural Bank also conducted 11 Financial Literacy Campaigns in various villages.

The meeting also discussed security measures for bank funds, currency management, and remittance processes. Emphasis was placed on the need for all banks to ensure adequate security, including Security Guards, CCTV, Fire Extinguishers, and Security Alarms.
